Jesus V. Arguellez, 90, of Brownfield passed away Sunday, June 21, 2009 in Lubbock.
Services were held Wednesday, June 24 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Father Gerald Leatham officiating. Interment followed in the Brownfield Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home. Rosary was held June 23 at Brownfield Funeral Home.
Jesus was born on Feb. 17, 1919 in Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Ascencion and Ambrosia Arguellez. He married Alicia Gonzales on May 1, 1949 in Yorktown. Jesus was a veteran of the United States Army serving in WWII. He was also a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church.
Jesus is survived by his wife, Alicia Arguellez of Brownfield; eight daughters, Frances Arguellez Perez and her husband Ricardo, Flora Arguellez Garcia and her husband Ruben, Jane Argellez Perez and her husband Arthur, Beatriz Arguellez, Diana Arguellez, Cilvia Arguellez, Irene Davis, and Gloria Martinez and her husband Leo, all of Brownfield; two sons, Antonio Arguellez and his wife Susan of Breckenridge, and Jesse Arguellez, Jr. and his wife Annie of Brownfield; his brother, Faustino Arguellez of Temple; 28 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
