My name is Laura Richardson Hanks....my father was a brother to my Aunt Pickey. Her sister and my father's sister, her name was Dood Richardson Riddle. For many years she lived in Trinity, Texas. She married a man named Riddle...but, I do not know where he was born or came from.
James Riddle, now deceased, was one of their children.
He went to school in Trinity and he was older than me...but, anyway, he went on to make the military his career. He did get his college and later became an instructor of the Russian language in Alaska. Aunt Pickey helped raise him in Sterling City, TX. She was a second Mom to him. He is not the person you are looking for. I do not know where the Riddle family came from to end up in Trinity, TX. I know my Dad was born in Post, TX....the family were share share croppers and moved alot. They picked cotton alot. Hard working people but moved around. My father, George Richardson, passed away 8/1998 just after Pickey. If you wish to sha.re anything....let me know

Easy! Permit an "outsider" to express it another way? "My grandfather was Charley Jasper Dunn." "He was Keet's older brother." Does that make sense? If not, view 1900 Sterling-Precinct 1-District 81-Image 9. There, you'll find them in the same household with their married sister and father.

Hi,
I am interested in more information about this. Since Henry Keaton Dunn and Mamie Colbaugh only had 3 children, are you related to Vera, my grandmother's sister? I was told Myrtle did not have children. Billie, my grandmother had 2 children and my brother and I are the only grandchildren.
I also have a copy of Milling Around in Sterling City and tons of family pictures from that era. My father spent a lot of time on the ranch with his grandfather Keet. They referred to him as Daddy Keet and his second wife was Mama Jewel.
ps I sent this to your email but it was returned

My granddad, TE Moon, of Seagraves was murdered on the courthouse steps in April 1921. Leslie Riordan was the gunman. His partner was DF Abney of Bangs. Does anyone have any knowledge of this? They were cattlemen from Sterling area. Riordan and family were still living in Sterling Co, in 1930.

My name is Rick Dees and I'm a high school science teacher from Billings, Montana. I'm writing to you in hopes that you can help me. My father, Edward "Humpty" Dees died when I was nine years old in 1973. He spent some time (I think about 1950-52) in the Sterling City area. My grandparents, Caddie and Jesse "Egar" Dees gave birth to twin girls in 1946. One of them died but the other, Margaret Sue, survived. I'm told that she was so small (they were a few months premature) that a Dr. Swan built an incubator out of a boot box and kept her alive. The story was picked up by a Sterling County paper and then the story was picked up by Time magazine. Would you happen to know about any of this or where I could find additional information? Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Rick

I am searching for a descendant of Charles W. West and Rebecca Hull who were married in 1885. Charles is reported to have drowned in a flash foood in Sterling County prior to 1900 when Rebecca and a small son were living with Rebecca's half-brother. We believe that their son, Edgar T. West, was the only child of this couple. Rebecca married second to her distant cousin, Samuel Smith Hull, recorded Sterling County in 1906. I have photos to exchange with West descendants.

My Great-great grandparents and granduncle lived in Sterling City and were all buried in the city cemetary(on the hill, west of town), but the markers are gone or difficult to read. I would appreciate any information anyone can provide about these relatives. The names are John Jarvis and Mary Lettie Stansberry and Dave Y. Stansberry. At one time they lived on a farm just north of town off of Hwy 87 that was rumored to be haunted. Dave died Feb 3, 1947 and his funeral was handled by Lowe's Funeral Service of Sterling City. To my knowledge the parents were buried by the city.
