I am a volunteer researcher for the Texas Peace Officers Memorial. About 1:00 am on Monday 13 Aug 1877 fifteen men from Mexico entered Rio Grande City, broke into the Starr County jail, and released two prisoners. Articles mention a judge COX and county attorney COX being wounded and varying accounts 1-3 jailers wounded mortally. It appears that Noah COX was county attorney at the time and he did not die from his wounds. The question is did any jailers die? If so can anyone identify them?
