Found this obit in a couple of 1895 Texas newspapers (Fort Worth Gazette & Austin Weekly Statesman) and thought it might be significant. Not my family. The surname spelling used was Whittock, Whitelock, and Whitterek. Two different spellings in the same obit.
"Robert Whitelock -Sinton, Texas, September 16..- Robert Whittock, a veteran of the war of 1836, which resulted in the independence of Texas, and a hero of the battle of San Jacinto, died at the residence of his niece, Mrs D.C. Rachal. He was 84 years old. This leaves but eighteen survivors of that memorable battle."
