I very much appreciate the information. I intend to make a trip to
Corpus Christi to look for
Levi and Esilla Bitterman's graves in Rose Hill. I hope more information on the White Point ranch comes to light.
I have two letters that Emma
Bitterman wrote. One is dated April 11, 1935, from
Corpus Christi and is quite lovely, thanking Mabel at length for having sent a cake for her birthday. "I recd. the cake, it was not broken at all, surely do thank you for it, Frank said it was the best cake he had eaten in a long time, said he was glad I had a birthday. so whoever made the cake can feel very proud. and all who ate any of it said it was fine. Ghaskye & Henry, Edgar and Alma came and had cake and coffee with me and I sent Alex and Claire's little boys some, and yesterday I took Fred a piece and had cake and coffee with them so you can see how much pleasure I got out of it and still have some of it. ... Everyone is all right, and the babies are fine [underlined] and
Bille is still improving. Pearl came for a little visit this morning and said all her folks and
Hary and family are well. ...Lovingly, Mamma" The other was written from
Corpus Chrisit on April 18, 1944, to one of Mabel's daughters and is signed "Lovingly Big Mother"
In a letter dated August 12, 1945, from my father to his mother Mabel from the
Pacific, he wrote: "I wish that your mother could have lived to see the peace, and even though she didn't I am glad that she didn't get to hear of the use of the atomic bombs ..."
Mabel's name was spelled Mabel Claire
Wright. She was baptized on May 19, 1934, at
Corpus Christi Cathedral.
I have a copy of the genealogy of W W. Wright, which is very long.
The descendants of one of Pearl and Mabel's sisters live in Houston; I am acquainted with them.
