I am looking for infomation on where the "old" cemetery is in San Patricio and the name.. My Corrigan and Leahy ancestors are buried there. Where would I send for records from this burial place? Also, where would the "new" cemetery be and what is the name? Please keep in mind that I do not know the area. I wish to write for records. Anyone will to take pictures of tombstone in either one?

I live in Tx still, but nowhere near the Cem which is located "behind" Sandia where there is a road that goes to the old little burg of San Patricio which was settled by a bunch of Irish people. The Gallaghers probably may have been buried there as they lived "back" of Sandia.(East) Sinton has all San Patricio Co records, but Jim Wells has records of Sandia in Alice. Mathis is in SP Co, and about 7 miles north of Sandia, and about five? miles west of the little town of SP. Nueces Co, which has Corpus Christi, is probably the adjoining Co to both. Been a long time! <G> It's funny, I don't remember any Gallagher kids in school.

I will check those places for records. I lost Margaret (Maggie) Leahy Gallagher after the 1920 census which was before she married.. I don't know if they had any children. Thank you! Will contact you directly.

There are a bunch of Gallaghar's buried at the Gussettville Cemetery in Live Oak County, where my Mom and grandparents are buried. Go to :

http://www.rootsweb.com/~txliveoa/stjosephscem/index.htm

hope this helps.. you can email me back from the link on the submitter column.. none of the Gallaghars are kin to me except for a very distant connection.

Ya'll don't forget that at one time San Patricio County was HUGE, and it was carved up to make some of the surrounding counties, so if you have a reference to San Patricio, it could really refer to Bee, Live Oak, Nueces. or other counties. There is a Margaret and a Mary Ann Gallaghar in the pictures that i took..that are posted in the previous message

Joyce,

I am not sure of an old cemetary, but most of my ancestors are buried in (i think the only one). I was down there recently taking pictures, so I would be willing to go on my next stop. I can't remember the name.

Email me at wghart@hotmail.com and I will try to get the name of the cemetary in the meantime.

Thanks

I RECENTLY WALKED AROUND THE "OLD CEMETERY ON THE HILL" IN OLD SAN PATRICIO. THE CEMETERY IS OVER-GROWN WITH WEEDS AND IN TERRIBLE CONDITION. I DID SEE SOME LEAHY GRAVES, AND THE TOMBSTONE OF JOHN CORRIGAN, MY GGGGRAND-FATHER, WAS BARELY READABLE IN PARTS. I HAD TO ASK DIRECTIONS SEVERAL TIMES, AND I FINALLY FOUND THE GRAVEYARD AT THE END OF A COW PASTURE. BY THE WAY, IS YOUR RELATION FROM JOANNA CORRIGAN, JOHN'S SISTER?
