I am looking for Daniel and Margaret McCracken. They were in the 1860 Census in Polk County, Preceint 1 Cold Springs post office. I believe his brother was also in that same census in same county under Anson or Ansil McCracken and wife Margaret. I believe Polk County, Cold Springs is now San Jacinto County Coldspring. They just disappeared and have searched many cementeries in this location and found nothing. You said you had a book on cemeteries during this time. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
John McCracken

I cannot help you with where Daniel and Elizabeth McCracken are buried. However, their son, James A McCracken, who appears on the 1860 census with his parents, is living with the William A Peevler (Peavler) family for the 1870 census of Mercer County, Kentucky. He is 12 years old. Is birthdate was actually February 1958, according to the 1900 census of Robertson County, Texas.

McCracken James 12 MW Texas

I believe that Nancy Carey Peevler is the great aunt of James McCracken. Here are Nancy, John, and Elizabeth Carey on the 1850 census of Mercer County, Kentucky.

1850 Mercer County, Ky p 341
789 789 David Carey 60 Ky
Nancy 60 Ky
Nancy 18 Ky
Daniel 19 Ky
John 30 Ky
Mary 16 Ky
Elizabeth 11 Ky

I believe that Elizabeth is the daughter of John Carey by a first marriage. John is evidently the John Carey that was on the 1860 Polk county, Texas, census, along with his wife Mary. I find it hard to believe that Elizabeth is the daughter of David and Nancy Carey.
