(lol)Several family trees have gotten "it" almost right! https://familysearch.org/ has marriage record of Augustus Bagley to Lizzie Bowen, 21 Oct 1897 in Cass County, TX. For me, the key is death certificate for Warren N. Stephens (6 Oct 1891 - 10 Dec 1954) born in Forsyth, GA and died Tom Green, TX. His usual residence was in Runnels, TX. Appears Augustus Bagley/Lizzie Bowen were Myrtle's parents? Find them 1900 GA-Forsyth-Big Creek-District 0030-Image 15 and 1910 GA-Bartow-Cassville-0007-Image 37. Your posting is old and probably reviewed by bonifide researchers at some time in the past. Most will do a few searches, finding nothing will not so report.

There are just to many Willie Mae... to research each. Your info appears to come from "family lore." It is often filled with conjectures and just wrong information. And as it moves, facts change. The name Parker is your family tree, but, this "lore" does not identify if she was family or not. Do you have any known connections to her? Was Parker her maiden or married name? She lived in Winters, TX, "way back," what is "way back" based on? If it is based on your age, it could mean the 1990's, if based on your Grandfather... "Her property is still there," meaning her land? If you have more data on this person, it would help.

Based on your family tree and other postings, it "appeared" you are looking for Willie Maybell Wims, daughter of Ina. (Her correct spelling was Mabel).
--There are six family trees that show Nancy Ira Lano Wims, born 20 April 1921 in Runnels, TX. Yours being one.

This tree identifies Willie Mabel Tooke, born 4 Jan 1923, died 23 Jan 1999 in Ozona, Crockett Co, TX. So, based on this tree, it doesn't appear this was not the person you sought.

The Old Runnels Cemetery in Ballinger, has a Willie Mattie Parker, Dec 10, 1858 to Sep 4, 1912. Also buried in the cemetery is her daughter, Effie L. Parker. 1898-1978.

I looked through the names transcribed in cemetery listings for Runnels County and found several Willie Mae... but insufficent information on any to further research. I did not find a Willie Mae Parker; BUT, cemetery transcriptions are seldom fully documented. Researchers walk through and note gravestones; but over time, they find broken or missing ones, or one was never there. Or, they just missed the grave. There are eight Willie Mae Parker identified in Texas.

There are quite a few Willie Mae... found in posted family trees, but they would not identify enough information to connect to a potential person.

The 1940 Census showed 3,866 Willie Mae's living in TX, seven in Runnels Co. No Parker, but one of these "could" have married a Parker after 1940. The Texas Death Index showed 1,501 Willie Mae, death between 1903 and 2000, but she may not have died in TX (living with a child in another State). In Runnels, there were several Hallie's, but no Willie.

In obits, several close. This one: Willie Mae Wood of Wharton, TX, born in 1923 as Koehler, had a sister Dorothy Parker. She died August 2007.

I attempted to review Runnels County Recorder documents, but, without knowing an approximate time period she was presumed to be living there, I discontinued the effort.

I did not know that, thank you for pointing it out. Now that I've accessed it - it only adds to the mystery of why he moved his family to extreme West Texas. I already knew they were there because his youngest child, Will Edwin Routh, was born there. Before moving to Andrews, they were also in Lawton, Comanche County Ok., in 1908-1909. Not sure why they were there, either - and Oklahoma records are evidently contained in an enormous Black Hole, so I've not uncovered any. Very much appreciate the head's up, too.

The probate case was actually dated July 14, 1916 and concerned the children of Joseph Hayden Routh, Jr. He died in Runnels County on 24 December 1915. Although I haven't yet obtained it, it concerned Kathryn, Nell Marie, and Will Edwin Routh who were minors at the time of his death.

It is most likely that the post card was sent to Mrs. Emma "Amanda Melvina" Routh as it is dated 1908. I've speculated that she was named her paternal grandmother, Amanda Melvina Murrell.

Muldoon is a town in southwestern Fayette County, Texas 10 miles north of Flatonia, and 16 miles southwest of La Grange.

Since it was originally addressed to her in Oakland, Texas then forwarded to Muldoon the possibility exists that perhaps Mrs. A.M. Routh was previously residing in Oakland around that time.

There are six communities named Oakland active in 1908. I think the most probable are these two:

The Oakland in Colorado County is just southwest of the intersection of Farm roads 532 and 2144, on the Lavaca county line eight miles south of Weimar in northwest Colorado County. It is on a site originally granted to James Bowie. As early as 1844 the community, then called Prairie Point, had a store on the stage line between Columbus and Gonzales. In 1884 the town had 200 inhabitants, a public school, three general stores, a saloon, a steam cotton gin, two churches, and grist and saw mills. In 1900 Oakland had a population of 264, and in 1904 the community had one school with sixty-five white pupils and another school with eighty-one black pupils.

The Oakland located Brazoria County is one mile west of Freeport and one mile north of State Highway 36 in south central Brazoria County. Oakland was the name of the plantation of Henry William Munson, who came to the county in 1828 and purchased land from Stephen F. Austin. State highway maps of 1936 showed a church and school at the site, but in 1974 only St. Joseph Church, an adjacent cemetery, and scattered dwellings remained.

Of the two above, I think it most likely she was at one time, located in Oakland, Colorado County. More research is required, however.

There were also towns named Oakland in Cherokee, Houston, Hopkins and Van Zandt Counties.

My father's name isn't A.M. Routh - perhaps I didn't make that clear in the original post. My relation to the Routh family is through my paternal grandmother.

Joseph Hayden Routh's five children were James Kensington Routh, William Amercrombie Routh, Emma Amanda Routh, Joseph Hayden Routh Jr. and Josie Bradshaw Routh. However, Emma was also known by Amanda Malvina Routh or A. M. Routh so I don't know how your father's name could be A. M. Routh.

I didn't find the information on the 1914 probate case. Could you tell me more information about the 1914 probate case?

Although this is an old post, I've also been seeking information on the Ballou family with ties to Runnels County.

Here's some sketchy information I've collected. It is as accurate as I can make it based upon current records.

I'd love to hear from descendants of this family, and if I've made errors, please bring them to my attention:

1. Enoch Ballou was born 1847 in Kentucky and died 1916. He married 1st Caroline Elizabeth Bible Before 1874. She was born 1836 and died 1884. He married 2nd Emma Estell 1888. She was born November 1850 in Ohio .

He was a Drayman: A drayman was historically the driver of a dray, a low, flat- bed wagon without sides, pulled generally by horses or mules that were used for transport of all kinds of goods. Also often called a “carter” or “carman”, a person who drove a horse and cart (or “lorry”, “lurrie”) engaged on goods collection and delivery from/to a railway goods yard or depot. We have the paper work on this, but having a hard time finding Mary Frances Fannin Watson Rosson. She Married Lee Jackson Rosson who was the son of William Martin Rosson.

Your right about the be careful part. It has been confusing. Ancestry is full of information that might be true and plenty of maybe trues.

Refocus your research to Anderson County. B. F. Rosson wed Elsy/Elsey/Alcy J. Starr, 26 Dec 1867. Find them 1880 Anderson-Precinct 3-004-Image 11. Review the entire page for other "Rossin"/Rossen/Rosson. Lookup death certificate for Carl Rosson (3 Sep 1883 - 12 Oct 1938). Consider several possibilities when researching this surname. "Rawson" has been found in 1850 Henderson County.

Be careful what you wish for!(lol) There are so many people with the same names in this family and that can be confusing. An example: John Parker married Nancy Rosson, 21 Oct 1857, in Anderson County. John Parker married L. E. Rosson, 3 Aug 1865, also in Anderson County. Did the "Rossons" marry the same man? I don't think so! Both women had a son named Benjamin. Nancy's son was born about 1863 and Lucinda's Benjamin came in 1868. Sketchy, but the family roots appear to have been in Illinois for the Anderson County Parker(s) while those in Runnels County indicated Tennessee for nativity. Do this? Logon https://familysearch.org/ Click on highlighted "Death" and enter Texas in the "Death Place" box. Click on the highlighted "Parents" then enter John Parker and Nancy Rosson in the appropriate boxes. Click "Search". That should return info on Benjamin Franklin Parker (d: 7 May 1918) and Bettie Read (16 Aug 1861 - 20 Dec 1932). Return to the parents selection and replace Nancy with Lucinda. Click search and that should return info on Ben J Parker (1 Jan 1868 - 17 Jan 1956) and Irena Parker Bennett (5 Nov 1873 - 21 Jun 1965). From there, logon to findagrave and search for the Pilgrim Cemetery in Anderson County. Search for Parker burial then spend the next three weeks researching!(lol) I'm not related!

Were you able to get a photo of Joseph's gravesite? I have been working on the cemetery where he is buried for a couple of years and just happened to catch this message board in my research.
