EURA LLOYD - PUMPHREY - Eura Lloyd, 96, went to be with the Lord and her family on Thursday, January 25, 1996. She was born on September 16, 1899 at Star, Texas to A. L. and Inez Smith and came to the Pumphrey (Runnels County) community as a child. She graduated from Winters High School and attended Simmons College in Abilene. She married George O. Lloyd on March 13, 1920, in Abilene. They operated the family farm until his death in 1973. She continued to live on the farm until moving to Winters in 1989, and had resided in Bangs for the last three years being loved and cared for by her extended family at the Twilight Nursing Home. Mrs. Lloyd was a homemaker and a longtime member of the Pumphrey Baptist Church where she taught the Young Children's Sunday School Class. She was an avid gardner and seamstress. She was a member of the Drasco Home Demonstration Club, Sew and Sew Club, Be Busy Sewing Club and the Wingate Quilters Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Lloyd; her son, George Ferrell Lloyd; three brothers, Autry Smith, Dr. Travis Smith and Floyd Smith; and one sister, Wyllene Smith. Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Jerry Lloyd of Winters; a granddaughter and her husband, Linda and Dub Byler of Ballinger; two great-granddaughters and their husbands, Shamone and Brian Minzenmayer of San Angelo and Shannon and Howard Parrish of Richardson; one great-great grandson, Kevin Minzenmayer of San Angelo; two sisters-in-law, Idell Smith of Winters and Dickie Lloyd of Benjamin; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 28, at the Wingate Baptist Church with Reverend Charles Myers and Reverend Glenn Shoemake officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, directed by Winters Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Brian Minzenmayer, Howard Parrish, Stacy Long, Terry Long, Mike Davis, and W. T. Colburn. Honorary pallbearers were former members of the Pumphrey Baptist Church.
