HATCHEL LADY DIES AT SANATORIUM, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 11TH - Buried at Old Runnels Cemetery Thursday Afternoon -- Mrs. Ethel Roberta Ratliff of Hatchel, died at the State Sanitorium at Carlsbad Wednesday afternoon, November 11, following a declining illness that developed three years ago. She was taken to Carlsbad last August. Deceased was born December 8, 1905, at Savoy, Fannin County, moving with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Bales to Runnels County in 1906, locating near Ballinger. The year following the family located near Hatchel, where they have since made their home. Deceased was married in 1923 to Millard Ratliff.

Mrs. Ratliff is survived by her husband, a daughter, Ouida Blanche; her father, L. M. Bales, and four sisters, Mrs. Mord Tucker, Mr. C. C. Gill all of Hatchel; Mrs. J. L. Gill of Ballinger and Mrs. Jack Davis of Winters; two brothers Marcus and Wirt Bales of Hatchel.

Funeral services were conducted at the Hatchel Church of Christ Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, interment following at Old Runnels Cemetery by the side of her mother, who died in 1927. A brother of Mrs. Ratliff died in 1916. Mrs. Ratliff was a faithful member of the Church of Christ for many years.

NOTE: Mrs. Ratliff died on 11/11/1931. She was the daughter-in-law of L. A. & Katie[Casey] Ratliff of Littlefield, Lamb County, Texas and former residents of Hatchel. Attending the funeral from Littlefield were Mr. & Mrs. Dick Ratliff and Misses Edith and Bootsie Ratliff.
