FUNERAL RITES FOR DORIS IRENE DAVIS ARE HELD TUESDAY - Death Was Attributed to Ruptured Appendix. Doris Irene DAVIS, seven year old daughter of Clifton DAVIS, died Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the family home in the Dale community, Runnels County, Texas. Death was caused by a ruptured appendix. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, was conducted by the pastor, Rev. W. T. Hamor. Interment was made in the Main Street Cemetery, by the grave of her mother who died June 8, 1933.
Doris Irene DAVIS was born April 24, 1927, and was 7 years, 6 months and 4 days of age at the time of her death. She had been ill eight days althought at first was not considered seriously ill until she was stricken with appendicitis. She had just entered her second year in the Dale school and members of her class acted as flower girls for the funeral.
Relatives and friends here to attend the funeral were Mrs. Jesse Jones, W. A. Forgey, Mrs. Jack Jobe, T. A. Duke and family, Mrs. and Mrs. Jesse Lee Lett all of Ballinger; Mrs. Jack Nichols, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Knight all of Ovalo; L. A. Ratliff and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Bales all of Littlefield; Mrs. George Phillips and Maude Powers of Crews.
Pallbearers were W. J. Davis, LaDell DAVIS, Edwin Knight and Raymond Knight.
NOTE FROM SUBMITTER: Her Date of Death - October 28, 1935. She was the daughter of Willis Clifton DAVIS and Viola [Ratliff] DAVIS. She was a sister to Willis C. Davis, Jr.; Joyce A. Davis Skinner and Venita Viola DAVIS Worthington.
