MRS. DAVIS, WINTERS, DIES- Mrs. Ludie A. Davis, 86, died at 6:55 a.m. Wednesday in WINTERS Municipal Hospital. She had been hospitalized 12 days and in failing health several weeks. Funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday in the First Baptist Church here with the Rev. B. T. Shoemake, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery at Ballinger with Spill Funeral Home in charge.
She was born November 4, 1877 in Milam County and married Willis J. Davis there in 1895. In 1901 they moved to Runnels County, settling near Ballinger. They moved to the Dale community south of WINTERS in 1917. Mr. Davis died in 1920. She continued to reside at Dale until 1942 when she moved to WINTERS. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Clifton and Jack, both of Winters; three daughters, Mrs. Ethel Rodgers, Mrs. Alice Compton both of WINTERS and Mrs. Ruby Burns of San Angelo; 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. R. S. Davis of WINTERS.
Pallbearers will be Bill Mayo, Reese Jones, Ernest Smith, Dub McAdams, V. E. Colburn, Elzie Cox, Homer Briley, Jr. and Pete Davidson.
