Winters - Wilma C. "Bud" Davis, 85, died Tuesday, February 2, 1999, at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene. He was born June 21, 1913 in the Dale Community in Runnels County. He graduated from Winters High School and married Blanche Key on November 26, 1932 in Ovalo. She preceded him in death on September 26, 1979. He then married Jimmie Alexander Mayo on October 4, 1980 in Ballinger. Mr. Davis was a farmer and a carpenter. He served on the Runnels County Soil and Water Conservation District, the Elm Creek Water Control Board, and the Coleman County Electric Coopp. He was a member of the Lions Club, served on the school board, was a Sunday school teacher and a deacon in the First Baptist Church in Winters. Survivors include his wife, Jimmie Davis of Winters; one daughter, Wilma Jeanell "Jiggy" Davis Pate of Fort Worth; one son, Don Davis of Winters; one stepson, Lynn Mayo of Midland; one brother Robert S. Davis of Santa Ana, California; four grandchildren;seventeen great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Services were held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, February 5, 1999 at the First Baptist Church with Reverend Barry Taylor officiating. Burial followed in Lakeview Cemetery directed by Winters Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Bryan Davis, Danny Pate, Hunter Davis, Nick Davis, Jim Davis, Bud Davis, Mike Davis and Kelly Davis. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Winters.
