Bridgeport - Gena Mathis, age 86, of Bridgeport died on March 24, 1994 in Bridgeport. Gena Mathis was born August 17, 1907 in Milam County. She married W. O. "Bill" Mathis on June 28, 1924 in Norton, Runnels County, Texas. He died on October 19, 1976. Mrs. Mathis lived in Ballinger until 1985, when she moved to Gainesville. In 1989, she moved to Bridgeport. While living in Ballinger, she was a member of the Seventh Street Baptist Church. She was a hair dresser and nurses aide. Gena Mathis is survived by two daughters Betty Jo Hargrove of Gainesville and Zelda Colburn of Bridgeport; one sister Mattie Faye Smartt of Abilene; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Gena Mathis were held on March 26 at Rains-Seale Funeral Home Chapel in Ballinger with Rev. Ferris Akins officiating. Burial was in Old Runnels Cemetery, directed by Rains-Seale Funeral Home.
