California - Robert (Bob) S. Davis, Jr., 81, died Thursday, October 21, 1999 in California. He was born April 1, 1918 in Winters, Runnels County, Texas. He served as an Army Air Corps tailgunner in a B24 Liberator and was shot down over Europe. He was a prisoner of war until liberated by the Russians. He moved to California in 1948. Mr. Davis was a respected State Farm agent for 38 years. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bud Davis of Winters. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Helene Davis of California; three children, Michael Davis of San Diego, California, Shannon Gordon of Many Farms, Arizona, and Kelly Davis of Newport Beach, California; nine grandchildren; and a nephew, Donny Davis of Winters. Memorial services were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 26, at Holy Family Cathedral in California. Burial was in Fairhaven Cemetery in Santa Ana, California, directed by Brown Colonial Mortuary.
