WILLIS C. DAVIS DIED HERE LAST FRIDAY MORNING--Willis Clifton Davis, Jr., 48, died suddenly at Floyd Sim's Service Station on South Main in Winters at 8:45 a.m. last Friday. Funeral services were held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday from the First Baptist Church with the pastor, Rev. Harry Grantz, officiating. Burial was in Northview Cemetery under the direction of Spill Funeral Home.
Willis C. Davis was born near Winters, Runnels County, on September 26, 1921 the son of the late Clifton and Viola (Ratliff)Davis. Except for a few years when he lived in El Paso, he had lived in the Winters area all his life. He was a farmer and stockman. He married Charlotte Robertson at Winters May 2, 1948.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Board of Trustees of Winters Independent School District, and was on the County Committee of the Runnels County ASCS. During World War II he served in the U. S. Air Force for three and a half years.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Michael, and one daughter, Carla, both of the home; his step-mother, Mrs. Clifton Davis of Winters; two sisters, Mrs. Herbert (Joyce) Skinner of Austin and Mrs. Leon (Venita) Worthington of Fresno, California.
Pallbearers were Dr. C. T. Rives, M. E. Mathis, Jake Presley, J. W. Bahlman, Johnny Dry, Carroll Tatom, Johnny Bob Smith, Raymon Lloyd and G. W. Sneed
