I use to travel this area and never knew I had relatives there. Beautiful area until you get to Hereford ! Boy, that will open your nostrils !! I always wanted to see Canyon.

I am looking for any info on the Morgan Family. It says they lived in Amarillo, but in Randall County. It seems they worked in Amarillo.
Robert S. Morgan born in 1884. No known Death Date
wife : Alma Morgan, died in Amarillo in 1977
Ura, brother of Robert, died in 1963 and buried in Amarillo.
Two more brothers, James B and William.
Robert and Alma had a son in Amarillo in the 1930 Census, named John A. Morgan, born avt 1913-14.

Azle O'Neal Harding died Sept 1987, last residence was Amarillo. Trying to find out more information on my brother in law's family and where she is buried. Was married to Willard Jefferson Harding at some point, lived in Ellis County Texas. She had two sons Remer Laverne and Willard Jack Harding. POW/MIA Korean War, Randall Co. JOBE

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave Randall
County, Texas as his home of record.

Soldier: LEWIS EARL JOBE
Born: Jan. 23, 1930. Caucasian
Date of loss: July 8, 1953. KIA

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. There are 137 families in Texas that have not been located. There is one family from Randall County that has not been located.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (77 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

Joseph had four sons. By 1930, all lived in or around Amarillo.

1.Robert S. Morgan, died 1941, wife was Alam. She died in 1977
They had sons, Alvin b. 1910, John R. Morgan, b. 1914
Robert ran a Machinist Repair Shop
2. James B. Morgan. Went by Jim B. Morgan
3. Ura D. Morgan
4. Willie or William Morgan
By 1930, the last three sons were single. Could have married later.

Griffins in Cemetery near Canyon, Texas

Some of my Griffin ancestors are buried in a cemetery south of Canyon, Texas, possibly Dreamland Cemetery. My mother has pictures of some of their grave markers with this information:

I'd like to get more information on these and other Griffins in the area. They once lived in Denton County. Charlie and Francis were brothers, both born in Tennessee. I'm trying to determine who their parents were, also born in Tennessee. Ideally, there would be an obituary or other records in the Canyon area that provides clues to their Tennessee ancestry.

Benjamin Franklin Beason - World War II POW

Looking for information on Canyon native Benjamin Franklin Beason (16 January 1928 to 14 December 1944). Benjamin was an Army Technical Sergeant with the U.S. Army Finance Department in the Philippines when World War II started. He was one of 139 U.S. POWs who were murdered by the Japanese on 14 December 1944 at Puerta Princesa on the island of Palawan. The incident is known as the Palawan Massacre.

I have no connection with the Beason Family. I'm conducting research for the U.S. Army Finance Corps.

Thomas re-married, I need to find if his decendts have any records, photos, letters or material from Cleo's family. Family legend is that Thomas' second wife threw it all out but I am praying that someone may have somthing.

Lorene Croy, 68, of 4629 Hayden, died Monday, Nov. 21, 1988.

Services are pending with Schooler-Gordon Bell Avenue Chapel.

Mrs. Croy was born in Mannford, Okla. She had been a secretary/receptionist for 19 years, working for Hunter Oil Co. and L. A. Puckett Trust. Her husband, Calvin W., died in 1987. She was a Methodist.

Survivors include a son, Dr. Calvin Douglas Croy of Arvada, Colo.; a sister, Evelyn Lowry of Knoxville, Tenn.; and a grandchild.

The family will receive friends at Schooler-Gordon Bell Avenue Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. The body will lie in state Saturday or Sunday.

He was born sometime around 1874 and died in Waco, Texas on 12 June, 1924. He was married to Carrie Amanda Miles and had one son, Arthur Miles Thompson, while he lived and worked in Malakoff, Texas. Researching EMILY ENGLISH/HENSLEY'S FAMILY. I found them in the 1920 census of Randall County Texas, living in Canyon. Living with Jonas and Emily were three of their four childen. I found them in the 1910 census of Brown County, Texas, living with them was Emily's Mother JULIA RUMFELT/ ENGLISH. I am assuming that Julia died between 1910 and 1920. I would like to know where she is buried and also get a copy of her obit, as well as one for Jonas and Emily. Julia and Emily both were born in CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, MISSOURI. I found an OMER HENSLEY in the SSDI who died in 1968 in Kansas, I am thinking that this could have been Emily and Jonas's son. Are there any descendants of this family out there? He has connections to Clounch's in Kentucky.
In 2000, He contacted my Father,Carl Young/ Bookant@aol.com, who is now deceased, and seemed to have some info on my GGG Grandfather, David B. "Davy" Clounch, Born abt. 1797, who married Martha (Mary) Baker or Goins, in Kentucky, probably in Pulaski or Mercer Counties.
He mentioned a Denis Clounch who lived in West Virginia before it became a state, as of the 1783 Census.
Also, Mentioned this clounch he was talking about living in the very South west corner of Virginia. That he married the young girl next door, and then moved south.

According to the Social Security Death Index - there was a Louise C Randall (born 14 Dec 1927) who died in Randall in 2002.
This Louise would have been 75 when she died.

Is there anyone in Randall, Texas, who is familiar with this Louise Randall? Perhaps she was living either in a nursing home or with a family member in 2004.

The Louise Russell I am seeking information on - descended from a Russell family from around Amarillo - she was 5' 7" when young - and a blonde - very lovely girl. As a teenager she lived with her folks near Texas City, Texas. (about early 1940s). Thought she ended up in California. I am trying to find out if the Louise Russell who died in 2002 in Randall is the same woman who lived near Texas City in the early 1940s.

My grandmother's maiden name was WELLS, and her mother's maiden name was HICKOCK. My grandmother was born in WIS., then later moved to Randall County with her family and met my grandfather; Emmitt Cowell Prichard, and they married and raised their family in Randall County, the Canyon, Tx, area. I am looking for any information about Etta Jane Goodwin. Here's what I know about her at this time. She was the mother of Creed English (B. 5/28/1895 in Oceola, d. 2/24/1943 in Plainview) from a first marriage to a Henry English. Etta's place of birth is either Tennessee or Texas. She later married a man whose last name was Wright and had a son by that marriage named Finis. They lived in Amarillo in the late 1920's. Family tradition held that Etta was one-quarter Cherokee Indian. Any information about her or about Henry English or her second husband would be greatly appreciated.

There is a burial sight on the Elkins Ranch formerly part of the JA Ranch. As far as we know 3 people are buried here, 2 of them were rustlers caught by Charles Goodnight and the third is a cowboy who worked on the Ranch, we believe his name was Joe Brown. I am looking for information on a "C.M. McKinney" buried in the Llano Cemetery (d:7 Nov. 1927).

I am attempting to link him to Nora Edyna Turner McKinney but cannot find a birth, marriage or death certificate for him. His name is likely Charles M. McKinney. The 1920 Census records do not show him listed -- however, these McKinney's bounced from Indian Territory Oklahoma, to Texarkana, TX to Amarillo, Texas.
