I am doing research on the Ash family that spent some time in the 1930s - 1950s in Potter County - probably Monument area. David Eugene Ash spent time in prison. I found mention online of a newspaper clipping from the Amarillo Globe dated 12 Sep 1949 where David was arrested. It stated that he had a long criminal record and that he had 2 brothers with criminal records and 2 sisters that had been sentenced in Kansas for narcotics charges in 1949. I would like to learn more about this family. Family legend has connected them with several of the famous gangs of the early 30s.
