Thanks for the reply. I had actually seen the death cert which (to the best of my memory) did not specify the cemetery. I had come to the conclusion that his grave was probably unmarked. Thanks again.

We are related! He was my "Pappaw" and I was there when he died (in Sweetwater) although I was not allowed in the hospital room (too young). I will look in my grandmother's family Bible when I go home tonight. I remember your mom, Mattie, kind of. My grandmother was Navala Hampton Billington, oldest of 5. Pappaw and my great-grandmother were separated for many years before they actually divorced and I think I can supply you with that date, too.
Pappaw died of pancreatic cancer. You can email me at tulsasong1@cox.net. Look forward to hearing from you. Please identify yourself in the subject line. This is really exciting!

My great-great Grandfather, John Marsh, was killed in a gunfight sometime in the late 19th Century, in Sweetwater. The other man's name was John Duck. I have the newspaper article from the event.

My question is, does anyone have any information on either of these families? Marsh's wife, I only know her maiden name was Plunkett, died shortly afterwards giving birth to the fifth of their children. My great-grandmother, Delma Marsh Spurlock was raised at Buckner Children's Home in Dallas. I have photos of Marsh and his wife and her parent's who have come down to us only as "Ma and Pa Plunkett". Any information anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Stephen Knowles
Sevierville TN

I may not be able to help with John Taylor, but am curious whether the Sydney Inez Shackelford you mentioned was the daughter of Samuel Green Shackelford, and Daisey Mae Honeycutt. Did she have sisters Leo Lavienta Shackelford and Dora Cumi Shackelford? Inez's birth date would have been ca. 1898. Her mother Daisey, died ca. 1901/1902. Samuel Green was my fathers oldest brother. Sam remarried ca.1903 to Dora Evolyn Traumeral, and they had: Floyd, Wm Green, David Forrest, Oleta Dell, and Samuel Glenn. If this is the same Sydney Inez, I may be able to put you in touch with other living satellite cousins that can answer all of your questions. wshackelford@verizon.net

I found some family trees online that give the parents of Louis Tissaw as Jozef Tiso and Anna Plesova. It shows that Louis Tissaw and Mary Ellen Burkett were married in Sweetwater, Nolan, Texas on Feb. 2, 1887. Any information on this line would be greatly appreciated.

TXGenWeb Nolan Co., TX has moved to a new location

I have moved the TXGenWeb Nolan Co., TX website to a new server. TXGenWeb itself has also moved. There will be a link on the old Rootsweb server to click on to go to the new location.

Here is the new location:
http://www.txgenweb2.org/txnolan/

Ancestry has moved all counties off the Rootsweb server to their Ancestry server which caused problems with my counties; but I decided to move to the new TXGenWeb server when I found that Ancestry was blocking my "Search Engines" ability to index the websites. I feel having a functioning updated search engine is a very important tool for researchers when they visit websites.

So, bookmark our new location... and visit often. We are always adding new information.

Billie
Greetings Judy,

It is apparent that we seem to be cousins probably 20 times removed.

My grandmother was "Anna Mae Davis Hall", born April 19, 1904. Died May 21,1961 . She was the daughter of Daniel Boone Davis, born in Burnet Co. Texas on Feb. 14, 1881. Daniel Boone Davis was the son,(13th child)of Sam Houston Davis and Emma E. Spradling. Emma "Edna" was born May 12 1842. She married Sam Houston Davis, born 1-12-1835 in Dickson County, Tennessee in 1856.

I have obtained this information from some handwritten documents that were copied from my grandmother’s family bible. While doing research on the internet on "Sam Houston Davis", I stumbled on your information and it seems to match very well. I would be interested in sharing information with you. I am just getting started on the Davis - Hall side of my family so I don't know how much help I can be to you. Please let me know what you have on the Davis's in the Tennessee and other origins and I will give you what I have on the Texas side. You can contact me via email at
"cburdicksr@suddenlink.net or cburdicksr@hotmail.com". If you would like to talk you can reach me at 361-578-1874 or via "snail mail" at 378 Haynes Rd. Victoria, Texas 77904.

I look forward to swapping information with you and I will also forward your info to my cousin's wife who is doing the family tree thing too. Her name is Margret Hall. So if you get an email from her you know what it is all about.

Sincerely,
Charles A. (Chuck) Burdick Sr.
Re: Davis,Lucy Pearl Birth Certificate

Re: JOHN TAYLOR -DID HE DIE IN NOLAN COUNTY

There is a death certificate on record at the Nolan County Courthouse with information as follows:

JOHN TAYLOR
Residence: Loraine, TX (length of residence, 7 days)
Married
White
Widowed
Date of Birth: 12/12/1907 in Arkansas
Occupation: Laborer
Father: W. E. Taylor (born in Arkansas)
Mother's Maiden Name: Campbell (born in Arkansas)
Informant: W. R. Taylor (Colorado, TX)
Date of Death: 10/07/1938
Cause of Death: Infected Ulcer, Right Arm, secondary to automobile accident which occurred 9/26/1938 on Public Highway, Sweetwater, Nolan County, Texas.
Burial: Sweetwater Cemetery on 10/09/1938

Note: A visual transcription of Sweetwater Cemetery was done in 1992. There is no mention in that listing of JOHN TAYLOR or any TAYLOR with those dates. I have added a memorial for Mr. Taylor at the Sweetwater Cemetery on Find A Grave.

I am not related to the Taylors. I try to do lookups and photos at cemeteries for Nolan County when time permits.

Hope this info helps!
