Newspaper clipping found among my father/grandmother's things. I have no idea what city the newspaper clipping was from. It reads:
"A letter from S-Sgt. Loren E. Deering, who is still officially listed as missing in action, has been received by his wife Katherine Deering. The letter came from Stalag 13-C, Germany, where he has been a prisoner since November 23. The letter, dated in February, is the first word that has been heard from Sgt. Deering since he was reported missing in action while with the Ninth Army during the battle for the Seigfried line. Before entering service, S-Sgt. Deering was a wholesale milk salesman for McIlhaney Dairy four years. His wife and two-year old daughter live at 1301 Twenty-seventh, and his father, J. W. Deering, makes his home with them. A brother, S-Sgt. Clyde L. Deering, has been missing in action since the fall of Bataan. He was with the Air forces in the Philippines."
It also has a small picture of L. E. Deering with the article.
Can anyone give me some information on this man? My father, Murray A. Crutcher, Sr. and my uncle, Garvice Crutcher served in the Army Air Force in England. I don't believe there were streets in Palestine, Texas that had number for names during that time. So he must have become friends with them during the war, maybe??? Also my father's mother lived in Corsicana, Texas before she married. There was a Deering Funeral Home there at one time. Maybe it was a family connected to her family. My grandmother's maiden name was O'Connor and her mother's maiden name was Conners.
Thought this may be of interest to the someone in the Deering family.
