I am a volunteer researcher for the Texas Peace Officers Memorial. Dallas Morning News (30 Nov 1927) reports that "Four Held as Peace Officer Shot to Death." Motley County Constable Lee STEGALL of Flomot Precinct was found dead one-half mile west of Flomot on Monday 28 Nov 1927. He was the brother of Floyd County Sheriff P G STEGALL. Four men were arrested. I would like to know the dispostion of any cases against his murderers, family history (past and surviving), when elected, what precinct number, etc. I located his place of burial Memorial Park Cemetery in Flomot.

Unable to help with information regarding Lee Stegall's election/appointment to constable or the case.

I believe he has a surviving daughter who lives in Bangs, Texas who was born about 1927 but I did not find her birth record, Emma Ruth Stegall Bell.
