THORNDALE - Graveside services for Rhett Wilder, Jr., 79, of Waco, formerly of Rockdale, were held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2006, at Pleasant Retreat Cemetery near Thorndale with Rev. Calvin Springer of Rockdale officiating.
Mr. Wilder died Tuesday, June 20, at his home in Waco.
He was born Oct. 30, 1926, in Rockdale to Rhett and Bernice (Beard) Wilder.
Mr. Wilder had been a Waco resident for the past 16 years and resided in Rockdale from 1982-89.
He married Wanda N. Mooring on Aug. 26, 1949, in Colorado City.
Mr. Wilder was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy and retired as a superintendent from the oil exploration industry after 45 years.
He attended the Methodist Church.
Mr. Wilder was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Wilder, on March 8, 2003, and his parents.
Survivors are a son, Rhett Wilder, III of Waco; a daughter, Beverly Wilder of Waco; two brothers, Perry Wilder of Odessa, Pat Wilder of Houston; three sisters, Agnes Bennet of Alaska, Nancy Clark of San Antonio, Mary Lund of Midland; a grandson, Rhett Joseph Wilder; and two great-grandchildren, Adrian and Alisa Wilder.
