Grady Franklyn Elder died Aug. 21 at his home in LaCygne, KS. A memorial party was held Aug. 25 at the LaCygne Community Building.

He was born Jan. 23, 1949 in Salina, KS, the son of Jean Elder Ethridge and the late Frank G. Elder.

He attended Hedville and Humbarger schools and graduated with a degree in art education from Fort Hays State University in 1971, where he played football and wrestled.

He taught art and coached wrestling at Prairie View High School from 1972-2003 when he retired and later became a real estate agent. He was an avid bowhunter and enjoyed outdoors sports.

He married Linda Wicke Elder on Jan. 2, 1971 and she survives him.

Also surviving are two daughters, Erica Elder of Austin and Frankie Howard and husband Mike of LaCygne, KS; sisters, Faye Clements and husband Marvin of Hutchison, KS, Carol Doran and husband Rick of Harlan, Iowa; Lynne Anderson and husband Clayton of Smolan, KS; brothers Bryan Elder and wife Pam of Yukon, OK and Lyle Elder of Independence, MO; grandson, Ashton Howard of LaCygne, KS; and other relatives.
