Surnames: Criswell / Jones / Burke / Waddill
Yes, Bob, Yank's father, William Vannoy Criswell, did indeed fight at San Jacinto. He is deemed a "Texas Hero" and was re-interred in the Texas State Cemetery in Austin. As I said, differing versions of Yank's death have been reported. One has him as a victim of the San Saba Mob which were known to operated in and around McCulloch County. Another that he opposed the McCulloch County officials in power at the time. And of course that he was a victim of rustlers. The issue of mistaken identify is one I had not heard.
