Thank you for your reply but let us not stray from my thread. We are on the Marshals of Paris, TX and not Fort Smith. The Federal Courts were divided to five different Districts to relieve the heavy burden of the Fort Smith court. (1889) Little has been published about the other districts.
From the Paris Marshals, a number of the Deputy marshals were fired by an investigator from Washington simply because they made arrest outside their district. It was these deputies who were hired guns in the Wyoming range war of 1892. They returned to law work and one was still wearing his badge when he went to WY.
