I have a transcription of a letter written by my gr-gr-grandmother, Lillian Landwermeyer in about 1890, in which she tells her mother a story about the death of one of her neighbors, Lucy Kines, wife of Will Kines. They lived at the Irish Ridge. Please email me if you would like more specifics.

I would be interested in hearing about Lucy Kines' death. Her father-in-law (Will's father) was my great-grandfather. Thanks! Elizabeth

This is the part of the letter that references Will and Lucy: July 20, 1889 "Will Kines has had terrible bad luck this year, his wife died the 7th of this month and the baby is not expected to live. And he had two of his horses to die this spring. The two horses were Alice and Gypsy, they had the lockjaw. Lucy died with the typhoid fever and the flux. She was not sick long."
