Surnames: Crutchfield, Horton, Gibbs
Leroy Ladd Crutchfield was elected Sheriff of Jack County, Texas around 1870 and served in that capacity for about 5 years. He may also have been in the cattle business with his father, John Crutchfield. He married Lizzie Horton, daughter of Major Henderson Horton on August 12, 1868 in Decatur, Texas. There may still be relatives of the Crutchfields and Hortons in the area, because John Crutchfield had 12 to 15 children with two wives, the second one was Emma Gibbs. I'm searching for the history of that era which might mention these families. Many of the Crutchfields moved up to the Northeast Oklahoma area because they had Cherokee Indian connections. L. L. Crutchfield is my second great-grandfather.
