I had researched some info prior to your first response today. They wed 21 Sep 1946 in Bradley County. There are birth records in Orange County for William Gerald and Mark Allen. Your mom was the informant on Sammie Faye's (3 May 1951 - 14 Apr 1970) death certificate.

What was happening in Hunt Co between 1880-1882

I'm searching for info about my g-g-g-grandfather whom I believe died in Hunt Co between 1880-1882.

John M Grammer - last record in the 1880 Census, in Hunt Co. married to Susan Predonia Champion, with daughters Ella & Lille. (both later married BELL & CAMP)

Susan was pregnant with William Henry at the time the census was taken. WH was born in Dec of 1880. Susan remarried JONES in 1882.

So what happened to John M Grammer?

John was from Arkansas and could not write. My grandmother knew Susan and Susan would never talk about John...

So what was happening in Hunt Co. (Precint 4) during that time? Where could I find anything related?

Our 2013 Reunion is in Person County, NC! We'll dedicate a Monument to our earliest-known NC Rimmers, who also came to Hunt County! RIMMER kin will have "EXPLORING PERSON COUNTY" events that weekend July 26-28. We'll visit old homeplaces, churches, cemeteries, and such, most around Hurdle Mills. Roxboro INNKEEPER has "reunion rates." Inquire. A caterer for Saturday's big lunch at Wheelers will serve Carolina B-B-Q and chicken, lots of vegs.

MEMORIAL UPDATE: We will choose our stonemason and wrap up fundraising soon. A few hundred more will reach our $3500 goal! All moneys mailed to cousin Jane - checks payable "Rimmer Family Reunion."
Jane R. Cadwallader, Treasurer
Rimmer Reunion
2039 Travis Road
Conover, NC 28613-9163

THANKS to dozens of you for remembering our ancestors this way! Our Monument will honor the 23 (including 12 spouses of Rimmers) in our first two certain-known generations. It will be our USA "Rimmer Runestone," detailing roughly 1750s - 1850s. It will have about 175 facts engraved. Dedication on Sat., July 27 at Wheelers Primitive Baptist cemetery. INQUIRE for full details as they develop.

Hello group – I’m looking for some help to overcome a crazy roadblock - I am trying to find Gordon Hart that lived in Hunt County between 1860 and 1870.

The last bit of evidence I have for my search is the 1870 Census of Greenville in Precinct 3, Page 24. Head of household is Mary Hart b. 1844, with 4 Hart children: John Hart b. 1863, Wilson Hart b. 1865, Josiah Hart b. 1867, Samuel Hart b. 1869. All are born in Texas. The father is not listed on the census (and whom I believe is Gordon), and the next closest Harts listed on that Census are on page 17, Wilson and Elizabeth Hart, b.1830 & 1833.

I have tried contacting the courthouse about a birth certificate for Samuel but was informed that they have very few from that period. I assume they all vanished when the courthouse burned up…

If anyone is knowledgeable about the Harts of Hunt County during this period and might have any information they could share about my Hart family, I would be so much appreciative.

p.s. I have a very strong reason to believe this Hart family is connected to the Harts that came by early settlement from Virginia based on some photos I found.

Thank you VERY much,

-Travis
I'm looking for information on James Kilgore that was one of the original land owners in Hunt Co., TX. I'm trying to see if he's the same James Kilgore that was in Rapides Parish, LA in 1810 & 1820 before vanishing. The one that was in Rapides Parish I believe to be my 4x gr grandfather, father of my 3x gr grandmother Martha Kilgore, she had a sister Sophia Matilda Kilgore that married Dennis Mackie, a surveyor in LA. Both Martha and Sophia were born near Alexandria, Rapides Parish, LA abt 1800-1805.

I'd better publish this now in hopes someone recognizes names and inform the listed personnel? William Leon Dyer was Susie Virginia's son. He and Martha Leona Haggard had Barry Leon Dyer (9 Jul 1941). Barry and Penny Joann Harrison had Bryan Harrison (13 Nov 1963) and Jason Christopher (28 Oct 1966). There may have been a second marriage to Mary Margaret Hewitt that produced William Leon (16 Apr 1984)?

You are very welcome and it was my pleasure to assist your research! I've been doing this for a long time, approximately 15 years, and have learned to navigate available resources quickly. Should you desire to pursue living descendants, I can help with that? Actually, that's my preference! Life is for the living and I don't dwell on where "so-n-so" is buried!

HL2604 you have been on a roll and you have done all of this so fast! I didn't ask you how long you have been doing this I just can't believe you found all of this so fast. I am not sure if I have talked to you since I asked my mother some more questions. She does not know much about Lilburn. She told me she remembered her mother and her sister would always get together when their "Aunt Susie" came to visit. I asked her if she knew anything about "Aunt Susie" and she said no only that she came from Ft. Worth to visit her mother and her mother's sister. She didn't know anything else but I think she must have been Susan Virginia Stone Dyer. I now thanks to you have some other names to slowly run by her. Thank you so much I hope your hands and fingers are not to sore you have really done so much for me. I have been stuck in this place for what seems to be a long time. I hope to start using family search and try to find my way around. I know a lady about 50 miles from here that I think can help me if I draw a blank. Again thank you for your wonderful help.

If census birthdate is accurate then her father was George Simmons? If the death certificate info is accurate then Lilburn Stone was her sire?

Her death certificate filed as Martha Elizabeth Stone (29 Jun 1856 - 29 May 1930). Her maiden name was "Pate" and her first husband was George Simmons. Per familysearch, L. L. Stone wed Mrs. Bettie Simmons, 15 Jun 1892 in Hunt County. Also in the 1900 household were: Adison (needs research), Inez (aka Georgia Inez Reimers), Atris B. (aka Janey Beatrice Kirkland), Ruby (aka Ruby Elmo Wardlaw), Rosey L. (aka Rosalie Llewellyn), and Willie (aka James William Stone). Don't quite understand why Willie identified as stepson? Guess they were delineating children born to Frances McDonald? Lilburn evidently died prior to 1910 census? Martha E. Nevertheless, Lilburn was his middle name and Lewis/Louis was his given or first name. He did marry Mrs. Bettie Simmons, 15 Jun 1892 in Hunt County. That's found https://familysearch.org/ That union resulted in daughters: Ruby Elmo Wardlaw (16 Jul 1895 - 21 May 1944) and Rosalie Llewellyn (2 May 1897 - 22 Jul 1989). Ruby died in Dallas and Rosalie in Bexar. Susan Stone wed R. A. Dyer, 4 Sep 1898 in Hunt. Susie Virginia Dyer (28 May 1878 - 24 Aug 1965) died in Fort Worth.

Hi,
Wow thank you so much. This is my family Lilburn is my 2 great grandfather. I am sad that he isn't part of your family because you have done such a good job looking up mine. Everywhere I have looked shows Ivey as my great grandmothers sister. I know via family that they lived in Hunt County Greenville and Campbell Texas before some of them moved on to McKinney Texas. Lilburn is hard to track but I have more information thanks to your help. I find Frances as his wife but have not yet found a second wife but I am going to continue looking. Thank you so very much for your help you are very kind.
Kathy

Not related! Do you show his first wife's, Frances, death 15 May 1891? Did he remarry Mrs. Bettie (nee: Pate) Simmons, 15 Jun 1892 in Hunt County? If so, he fathered at least two chilren by Bettie. In addition to the children reflected on 1880 Hunt, there are death records for: James William Stone (20 Oct 1888 - 29 May 1957), Mary Mertie White (14 Oct 1882 - 19 Nov 1942), and L. E. (Lewis Edward) Stone (29 Jul 1885 - 17 Oct 1942).
