Looking for birth record for William Steven Wilkerson b 1-1-1845 in Crockett, Texas Countyty Clerk told me there had been a fire and they do not have records that far back.

Birth records were only kept from 1903 on in this county. Your best bet is to find his death record to confirm his birthdate. I don't see a burial for him in this county in the cemetery book, but you can also check newspapers.

I have his death certificate. I was hoping for birth record to find out more about his father. He is the one that is my brick wall! Most census say the father was born in North Carolina but I have seen one census and another document stating he came from England. I cannot find out anything about him.
