Asa,Otto Asa Speer- Lovelady Texas

There were three Speer/Spear families in Houston Co., TX in 1880. Only one seemed to know where his father was born and that was Asa J. SPEAR. He said his father born AR.

The three Spear/Speer families where those of Benj. J. Spear b.1849 TX; Aaron Spear b.1851 TX; Asa J. Spear b.1860 TX.

In 1900 this Asa J. Speer says his father was born SC mother born TX. Asa J. Spear and wife Lucy E. had children: Minnie V., Virgil K., Olive, Bernice A., Katie L. and Otto.

A Otto Speer married Bertie Knox Jul 29, 1909 Houston Co., TX.

In 1860 there was the following Spears family:

Prior; 7; TX
Wm; 5; TX
Levi; 3; TX
S.J.; 1; TX
Sally; 60; b.NC

This if probably the parents of all the 1880 Spear families.. the child S.J. is probably A.J. The transcriber probably made a mistake in reading...

Maybe this will help you. Levi Speer married Sarah Dixon. Their son Andrew Jackson Speer married Parthenia Hodges. The children as I have them are W.E., Benjamin, Aaron, Levi B., Andrew Jr.,Asa James and Sarah Ann.

W.E.(Bud) was born Oct. 12, 1852 in Houston Co.He married Indiana Standley/Stanley who was born April 9, 1851. This family moved to Eastland Co. in the 1800's and settled at Carbon, Texas. W.E. never mentioned any siblings but he had a family of 3 sons and 5 daughters. My husband,Robert E., is a grandson.

I have the history of Parthena Spears if you want it.She Married a Hodges and moved to Kosse, Texas.Do you want more?

I would like to know about Parthena Speer and the Hodges that she married. Also, there was a Mary Speer who married Benjamin M. Hodges in 1846. Do you know about that family?

Mary Speer who married Benjamin M. Hodges is my line. They moved to Leon County in the 1860s. They and all their children and many more descendants are buried in Clear Creek Cemetery in Leon County

The Parthena Speer on the 1860 Houston County Census previously referred to is the wife of Andrew Jackson Speer. They both died in the 1860s. Parthena's mother, Sarah (McClain) Hodges moved from Houston County to Limestone County, Is there another Parthena?

The Hodges Family Reunion has been held in DeLeon, TX each September. I think that it is Sept. 17, 2006. When my parents attended two or three years ago, they discovered the Parthenia/Andrew Jackson link. My father, Robert Speer (1915-2005) was a direct descendent. My mother was attending as a member of the Hodges Family. Robert Speer's father was Willie Jack Speer (1887-about 1936 or 37).

How does Willie Jack Speer descend from Andrew Jackson Speer? Which Hodges is the ancestor of your mother?
