Mary Bobbitt was the daugher of one of the Bobbitts that moved to Houson county from MS-AL. I am not sure if her father was a Bobbitt and her mother a Mooney, as there was a marriage of the two surnames...or if she was the daughter of a Bobbitt with her stepmother being Mattie Mooney Bobbitt, who later married John Gale. I want to find who Mary married. I have a photo on my webpage of an unknown young lady holding a small boy..I believe this to be Mary.
If you have information on her and her line or descend from her, I would really appreciate a reply or an email

I have a Francis M. Bobbitt who was married to a John Mooney and they had 3 daughters. Jennie, Marsha A., and Mary. But this is all the information that I have on the Mooney daughters.
Francis M. Bobbitt was the daughter of John Greer Bobbitt and Elizabeth McElwain. This family did migrate from South Carolin to Alabama and on to Houston Co, Texas.
John Mooney was born January 23,1837 and died December 7 1889. But I have no other information on him.
Hope this information will help some.

Seeking info on anyone with Mooney surname in their history. My husband's ggrandmother was Mary Marzelda Mooney who married John Henry Blackwell. They lived in the Henderson, Anderson and possibly Houston co. areas in late 1800's. Believe she had a sister named Laura Mooney who married James Harvey Blackwell. This may have been sisters marrying brothers. Not real sure. Do any of these names sound familiar? Thanks PollyB Please contact at tombrumfield@aol.com.

Yes, I am wrong about Francis Bobbitt being married to John Mooney. I went back to look at my source of information and where I came up with this, definately say's different.
I had went back and looked up in my Bobbitt Book by John W. Bobbitt and it says that Francis Bobbitt was married to a Sam M Young. This is on page 414. It also states that William Henry Bobbitt was married to May E. Mooney on Feb. 8 1854. Nancy Bobbitt married a Mooney. James Jefferson Bobbitt married Martha Ann Mooney on Oct. 12 1865.
I certainly appologize for the mistake and am glad you called that to my attention so I can correct my records.
Thank You

This is very strange....The John Mooney you mention is my grandmother Tims' brother ...and he is buried in Bobbitt Cemetery in Houston County.

Please go check out the page I have on my webpage..it will clear some things up and cloud others...for the elder Mr John Mooney was married to a Frances..but I have been told her maiden name was TAYLOR, I have never seen that facts documentation...

2 Mooney Daughters married Bobbits..Read my pages..then let me know what y ou think..:)

Sammie, Not a problem...:)
In your Bobbitt book....does it give the names of the children of JJ Bobbitt and Martha (Mattie) Mooney Bobbitt?
In a census..it gives Mattie as having had a child..no children living..She married John Gale second. Also..does it give the children of May E Mooney that married a Bobbitt?

This little girl Mary Bobbitt had to be the child of May E (we think this should be MARY Mooney Bobbitt)

If you find a Marriage for this young Mary Bobbitt ca 1892...let me know..I am very interested in her and finding her descendents. There is a picture of a girl I presume to be her on this page.(Scroll to the bottom)

Hi Pauline,
Will you please contact me at pollymp@flash.net. You give the birth and death dates of my husbands ancestor John W. Mooney, b. January 23, 1837, d. December 07, 1889. There are Bobbitts connected to this family, but not married to this John W. He was married to Abigail Johnson November 28, 1866 in Lauderdale Co, MS, she was born in June 1847 and died in Henderson Co, Tx in 1916 and is buried in the Mankin Cemetery beside her daughter Bertha Mooney Pierce. The daughters you list for him are not his daughters.
