Hello,

I would like help searching for my paternal grandfather. Besides his death certificate, a couple of directory entries and a 1940 census record that I think may be him, I haven't been able to find much. I've literally been searching for years. The most information I have came across comes from his death certificate where the information was provided by my aunt. I'm not sure how accurate that information is since he was her stepfather and did not grow up in the same house. She passed away before I found the document so I never was able to confirm details with her.

The information that I found says he was born in Plantersville or Anderson, Texas around 1914. His mother was supposedly Sarah Kinley and his father was Clarence Emerson. My dad believes he had half brothers named Jack and Amos Stafford and I have found their death certificates that indicate they all had the same mother. He married my grandmother (Roxie Niblett) sometime after 1940 but I think he might have been married or at least had children before. He died in Houston in 1978. He was also African American.

At this point, I'm not even sure if this was his real name but I have tried variations of it with no luck. I'm hoping a fresh pair of eyes may find something I missed. I would be grateful for any help!

Thank you!

Amber
