Patty, there is a book "Quantrill of Texas" by Paul Peterson, that claims Mary Molly Lucy Erwin was adopted by the Smith family, and she was known as Bush Smith. He says this Bush Smith first married William T Anderson, known as Bloody Bill, and after he was killed in Oct 1864, she married his brother Jim. That Jim is identified on the 1860 Breckinridge Co KS census as James M Anderson, age 17, There is a marriage certificate for Lieut William T Anderson and Miss Bush Smith in Grayson Co in March 1864. But is she Mary Erwin?
