Looking for information about the husband of Lula Gray Smith. She was born 18 Dec 1887 and died 11 Mar 1966. She is buried in Glendale Cemetery in Goliad. According to her death certificate, he died before her.

I'm hoping someone out there has a complete listing of the cemetery, or knew this family, and can give me his name! It would also be nice to know if they had any children.

Any help is appreciated!

Hello,
I have been working a little and have managed to index the 1880 US Census, Goliad County, Texas.
http://www.rootsweb.com/~txgoliad/
It is still a work in progress and I do not know if I will ever finish it due to the poor image quality of the census images. The index is not complete so USE IT AS A GUIDE ONLY. There are mistakes and I will correct them as I continue to study the original census images. It is not quite ready to use hand-in-hand with the images, but should provide useful to the experienced researcher. I would appreciate any comments or feedback. And if you have anything to contribute to the Goliad County, TXGenWeb website, please feel free to contact me.
Enjoy,
Sincerely,
Douglas Anderson

I am trying to help my cousin find his birth mother. All he knows is that his birth mother was from Goliad as well as his father. His mother was 16 and his father was he thinks in his early to mid 20's. He was a mechanic. His mother was from a well know family there in Goliad. She had him there in Goliad or in a nearby hospital. His birth date is Sept. 1963. Her Aunt wanted to adopt him but she took him to Austin and put him up for adoption at Mary Wood. The one time he tried to look there in Goliad they tried to keep it covered up. So he is thinking the family wanted to keep it quite as not to disgrace the family name. I would be thankful for any help.

Looking for information on William Alexander Adams, born in either Ireland or Virginia (!). Married to Jeanette/Janetta Kuykendall, born in Victoria County and buried in Pearsall. William is said to have organized a company of volunteers from Goliad County, and been commissioned Lieutenant in the Civil War. He is believed to be buried in Goliad County. I need to find where he is buried, and if the Civil War story is true. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...grace

I am trying to locate what may have happened to an uncle of mine, Elijah Mosely Taylor, son of WIlliam Taylor and Catherine Gray. The information I have is that he was born in 1802 in Georgia, and was killed on 5 Oct 1829 in Goliad, TX, in the war with Mexico.

I have researched and can find no trace of him, how he may have died, or where he is buried. I have found no evidence where he may have died of an epidemic, and can find no military roster containing his name.

If anyone can shed any light on why he may have died in Oct 1829, it would be greatly appreciated.

The husband, Edward O'Meara is believed to have died as the result of a gunfight and probably was buried in Goliad county. His widow, Ellen McDonald O'Meara may have married a Patrick Henry Carrigan (Kerrigan) and had one child, James. In 1880, Ellen (Helen) is in Zavala county and by 1900 most of the family has moved to Dimmit county.
The two oldest daughters married Vivian's, the oldest son married Celeste McFarland.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Jack

Georgia's part in the fight for Texas independence will be celebrated at Old Knoxville Days Nov. 13-14 on the square in Knoxville, Crawford County, GA. Special guests, the Texian Legacy Assn., will re-enact the Nov. 18, 1835, encampment of Ward's Battalion after their first day's march from Macon, GA, and the presentation by Joanna Troutman of her banner that was one of the forerunners of the Lone Star Flag. We're planning horseshoe and checkers tournaments, a Shape Note Singing, a courtroom drama, a pottery exhibit, agricultural demonstrations, old-time games and music, and foods like our great-great-greats would have eaten. A short memorial service on Sun. will honor all those who fought at Goliad. We're still accepting applications from vendors of period handcrafts. We would love to find descendants of Joanna Troutman, Ward's Battalion volunteers, and Macon organizers of the volunteers for a registry. It isn't REALLY all that far to Georgia. Ya'll come. Please email me for more information.
My ancestors and many other South Texas families used to migrate in wagon train to Goliad County to work, in the early part of the Century, through the 1930's. Why Goliad? My grandfather used to mention a Charlie Jones, that he and many others used to work for, in Goliad and el Charco. My greatgrandfather, Francisco Flores is buried up there somewhere, but I don't know when he died, or where he is buried. Any help? Thanks. Eduardo Perez Flores

An obituary for Cleopatra Dugat of Brewster Co., TX in 1931 indicates that she and her family came to the Prairie Lee community in about 1855 when she was 12 years old, probably from Coffeeville, MS. There she married in 1859 to James T. Rupe who died in 1865. In 1869 she married Charles Ceburn Dugat and lived in Bee Co., Edwards Co. before going to Alpine in about 1892. Can anyone identify or locate Prairie Lee in Goliad County. She had a brother T.S. Parker.

I'm looking for descendants of FIELDS,JACKSON,and PERRY DAVIS who were all killed in the Masscre at Goliad in 1836. Their descendants were given land in Denton and Runnels counties in 1857 in return for their military service. It appears that every Davis family (with the exception of James Davis of N.C. ) originated in Tennessee. Which supports my theory that they are realted to the family of Jesse Davis of Greene county Tennessee:

East Tennessee Pioneers
Address:http://patsabin.com/etn/pioneers.htm Changed:1:48 PM on Saturday, February 8, 2003

You will be happy to know that the name "Fields Davis" is so rare that it is only found in ONE (As far as I know) instance outside of the Jesse Davis family.

Thank You in advance.

A book on the history of Goliad County makes reference to a historical marker for George Brightman in Fannin Park. I need directions on how to locate this marker and Fannin Park. Can anyone please help me find this marker. I need to know what it says.

Goliad Co Sheriff Andrew J Jacobs, d. 5 June 1869

I am a volunteer researcher for the Texas Peace Officers Memorial. I am researching the death of Goliad Co Sheriff Andrew J JACOBS who was killed on 5 June 1869. I have the inquest & grand jury indictment for Madison & Christopher PEACE for the murder. I would appreciate any additional info on incident, family history and burial location. Any assistance would be appreciated.
