Faye Iam Esther Munds granddaughter and my cousin Lynn Langerhans spent years and traveled to Germany even and made a wonderful genealogy book that she completed just before she passed away. I used to be able to tell you exactly how they were related. But since Oma has passed my memory is as good and I had left my book with my mom for safe keeping and it was lost in a fire. But Linda Langerhans can tell you any thing you want to know. I think it is thru the Nixons or maybe the Knopp side that we are related to the kneese's. Hope this helps. Also they always have the Mund Reunion in July at Lady Bird Park .

My wife's great grandfather was Gustav. He and his two sons lived in Menard County. Fritz, my wife's grandfather, lived across the San Saba from his brother and father. We still own the original land and the cabin which Fritz and his father built together. We think this was in the early 1890s. The original blacksmith shop has been donated to the city of Menard and you can see it the way it was from the very early 1900s. It was moved from the farm to the train station, ie; museum, in Menard a few years ago. Fritz was born in Germany. Fritz Beyer had a brother named Oscar. Oscar fought in France during WW1.

I am looking for proof of the marriage of Foster Rowen and Mary Coker to determine which Mary Coker that might have been. Many DAR/SAR sites have her name as Mary Fancher Coker, dau. of Arminta Fancher and William Coker, but that is impossible. Arminta's daughter, Martha Jane Coker, never used the middle name of Fancher. Also, she never left Arkansas. In the 1870 Arkansas census, Martha Jane Coker (not Rowen) is living with her brothers in Sugar Loaf Prairie. She is a single teacher and has no child, named Fossie or any child. There was a Mary Ann Rowen in Carroll County AR who later married Thomas Fancher Sisco Jr, but there was no child named Fossie and this was not the same person as Martha Jane Coker. That Ms. Rowen was not a widow. The Coker family is humoungous and it appears to me that someone has tangled up the names. I am trying to sort out who the real wife of Foster Rowen was who so many people erroneously believe to be related to the Fanchers? Anyone researching this - please respond. Interestingly, there was a gal named Martha E Park who married a Harlan Rowen. Her sister, Laura Park married John H. Spaulding. Their oldest son, William Aaron Spaulding married Mary Gertrude Fancher, the daughter of James Polk Fancher who was the youngest brother of Arminta Fancher Coker. But that Harlan Rowen is not the same man as Foster Rowen.

Casper was my great-grandfather. His son Jachob was my grandfather, his son A.B. was my father. I was told that when they came over from Nassau Germany that his parents died and he walked from Indinola to Fredricksburg an lived with friends and family. I do believe that their may have been other children but am not sure. I live in London Texas on a ranch Casper got and it has been in my family all of this time. If you would like to here what I can rembier come and I will tell you what I know.

Thanks, but this is not the family I'm looking for. I don't know the father's name, but I know the mother is Emma Perner Goewe Gentry. Emma was married before to Joe Goewe, widowed in 1909. Emma died in 1920, sometime between 1909 and 1920 she married someone with the surname of Gentry and had a daughter. This father and daughter are the line I'm looking for.

Courtesy lookup, I'm not related! Parents were Cyrus Homer Gentry and Ola Beatrice Owens. The father's given and middle names were sometimes reversed. Find the family in 1930 Williamson-Round Rock-District 28-Image 4. There is an obit, on the father, from the San Antonio Express viewable on ancestry.com. Survivors included Melba Clair Nichols, three other daughters, four sons, two brothers, one sister, and others. There is also a Gentry family tree viewable on ancestry.com. Point to "Search" in the header column. Scroll to "Public Member Trees" then click. Enter James Stinson Gentry as the father and Ora Cordelia Jacobs as the mother. Pulldown tab to display "USA" under "Country". Pulldown tab to display "Texas" under "State". Click Search.

I am a McDonald great grandchild. I would be interested in anything you can offer me. My grandmother, Mellie McDonald (daughter of William Shepherd and Nancy Wiles Nelson) married a WT Tom Smith around 1892. She had 2 children, the later one born in Harper. WT vanishes after that. Know anthing about any of these folks?

Pauline was my great aunt. Look on Newman-Narvaiz Tree and take anything you like. I have McDonald stuff mostly, but some marriages,etc. My Grandmother was Malvina McDonald, more commonly known as Mellie. Her Dad was William Shepherd McDonald and her Mom was Nancy Wiles Nelson. There is also a tree called Birds of a feather that is done by Pauline's daughter or granddaughter I think. You might contact them as well! Happy Hunting and nice to meet a distant cousin.

Glenda-someone from findagrave is working on the Spring Creek Cemetery. It is in some disrepair, but they are working on it. If you search ancestry.com records for photos of people from that area, there are several trees that have pictures posted.

There is more than one Fritz Kneese, so the one in DSF may the other Fritz Kneese born about 1889. I have a note attached to the Fritz Kneese married to Johanna Mund that indicates he "disappeared on a horse buying trip" to New Mexico in about 1894 (unsourced).

This is in response to George Loftin's response. The Lutheran pastor you speak of is my Great Uncle. His name is actually Nolan. Nathan is his nephew and my cousin. I'm not sure where the "Sagebiel" Hill is that D.L.Sagebiel is referring to, but the Sagebiel homestead is in the area that George Loftin is referring to and it does have hills on it. Now I'm curious....guess I need to ask my relatives!

dont know if these people are yours but i thought id give it a shot...
Found a photo in an antique store and on the back is written "Louis & Wilhelm Kneese family & children & friends". There is no date. There are 16 people. All of the women and female children are wearing white sunbonnets of an old fashioned nature. The men are all wearing large brimmed hats. In the picture they are by a river and the men are holding up their fish catch of the day. The landscape appears to be similar to what I see here in San Antonio, Tx. I found a Church History of Gillespie County and Louis Kneese is listed as the son of Ludwig Kneese. Louis's siblings are listed as Otto, Henry, John, Ernst and William. William was the father of L.F. and Charles Kneese. I scanned the photo so i can send it to you if you wish. If these are your people, I would be more than happy to send you the original. Hi, just read your post. Mathilda Marie Doebbler Gruen was my great grandmother. Her daughter Minna married Fritz Barth. They children were Walter, Otto, Annie, Cora, Herbert, and Helmuth(my father) They settled on Block Creek in Kendall County. I still live on the original homestead on Old #9. Yes, you are on the right track.Fredricksburg TX,All kin and cousins go all over from north to south and east to weast, worldwide. Young Cemetary is on a private ranch with access but you have to ask the families permission, all maintianed by the Carlos Young Family.My ggg William Butler Freeman b 5/16/1832 d 3/5/1902 and Manirva Young Freeman 8/06/1838 d 11/02/1910 had children,I am from one, is Ollie Dolphia Freeman, then Albrey Leon Freeman m Dorothy Brickley Freeman, 3 sons, Uncle Ronald Kent,Uncle Leland M, and my father Warren W, I am Warren Dale Freeman. Believe me most kin know of were the families are but as Freemans we dont stay in touch as we should.If he will talk to you, and I have not seen him in many years,but there was a kin and the Nemitz Museam in Fredrickburg, see Col. Nimitz was married to the main support at home a Freeman. Also look at the book Indiana Reuion, about all kin that traveled north and finnally for Texas.Another one is the "Mother of Texas Indianola Tx, be suprised at who is listed,have some Freemans, Youngs,Hardins,and I think some relations that died in the fever that struct, there is a cementary that has some of the kin. Nueces County TX, Most counties in TX has some kin,also look at Salodo or Salado TX, north of Austin, First Collage in TX and you will find were and who started it.
I may be off on some of the facts but most is from memories and growing up with travels to the hill county with my Grandparents.
Please correct me on anything and hope this helps.PS, If,and I do mean if,you can get them to talk, ask about the water well that was dug for Manirva so she would have some close to the house, funny how the boys could figure out how far it was to the creek, they solved that problem.

Wahrmund-Priess House - The larger of the two houses on this property is original to the site and dates to the period of settlement by German immigrants in this part of Texas. Johann Christian Wahrmund brought his family to Texas in 1846 and by 1851 they were living on this tract of land along Bear Creek. The original portion of the stone house was built between 1852 and 1866. Prussian immigrant Johann Priess bought the house from the Wahrmunds in 1866, and his family enlarged it during the 1870s and 1880s. The house remained under Priess ownership until 1931. Found a death certificate for Peter Wallendorf 1858/1949 buried in Gillespie Co. This certificate lists his parents as Andreas Wallendorf and Margaret Novian. I do not have Margaret Novian or this branch of the Wallendorf family in my files. I have Margaretha Novian b 1833 in Berod Germany. She was my great grandfather's sister. Have no spouse info on her. Am trying to find out if these two woman are the same person. My aunt's godparents were Wallendorfs. In those days godparents were usually family members. That has really peaked my interest in this branch of the Wallendorf family. Any help appreciated as I can not find anything on the internet.

I am seeking information on a Heinrich Besier, b. ca. 1860, also in the duchy of Nassau (believe the town is Barstadt). Son of Gottfried Besier and Christine Diehl.

Heinrich immigrated to New York ca. 1883 and married Anna Hey in 1886. They had three children: Henry, Jr., Rose and Anna.

Do you have any further information on this family, or have you had any success in retreving vital record information in Germany?

My husband too, is a descendant of William Jasper Nixon. William and Nancy had a daughter, Minnie Viola. Minnie married Horrace Akers. They had a son Cecil Jackson Akers. Cecil is my husbands father. I don't have much information, but would love to share what ever I can. I do have names of what I believe to be most the siblings and picture of Minnie Viola Nixon. I do know that the Nixon Family still has yearly reunions in Budha Texas. I am in touch with their secretary.

1) William Tandy Hudson who married Penelope Parker. They had two children:

2) Anne Elizabeth Hudson. An Anne Elizabeth Hudson married Jerry Wayne Starnes. They had a daughter Kate Elizabeth Starnes

3) Kathryn Jane Hudson. I believe Kathryn Jane Hudson married Blake Allen Andrews. They had two children:
a) Kyle Hudson Andrews
b) Kendall Neal Andrews

The spelling of the name can be Reh, Rehe, Rhee and Rhe.
The Reeh's came from Ort Rehe, Westerwald north of Westerburg, south west of Herborn. In Westerwald where Bretthausen is located, a neighboring small town of Stein-Neukirch is where the church records can be found of the Reeh Ancestors

Reinhard (Reinhardt)(Reinhold) and Christian's parents were Christian Wielhelm Reinhard Reeh and Anna Catharina Muller It is not known if Christian died in Germany or enroute to America. Anna Catharine, Reinhard and Christian came to America on Neptun under the command of Capt C. Vespermann with capacity of 167, landed at Galveston on June 6, 1852 and going to Fredericksburg.

Anna Catharine Muller Reeh born 1811 married Johann Peter Schneider 21 August 1863 Gillespie County, Marriage records 1850-1870 page 383 #390. Buried in the St. Mary's Cemetery near Johann Peter Schneider. (I am going to have to find out about the death date)

Reinhard Reeh born 15 September 1831 died 23 April 1905 buried at the St. Mary's Cemetery in Fredericksburg, Tx. Married 24 February 1864(not sure about the year) in Fredericksburg, Tx to Katharina (Katherine) Menges born 2 October 1843 Niederelbert, Nassau, Germany, died 23 February 1916 Gillespie County, Tx and buried at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Her parents were Anton John Menges !! (1820-1889) and Maria Catherina Josephina Meurer (1842-1846). Reinhard petitioned to become a citizen of Fredericksburg on 25 November 1873. Civil War info. Reinhold Reeh (roster spelling Runhard) was a Privae in Co. E, Yager's 1st Texas Calvary.

In a book called "Here's Harper" Reinhold Reeh lived near Harper in the Divide Community area. Louis Nelson and Reinhold were having to hide in the hills to evade bushwackers, and danger of Indians was always near. Mrs. Reeh took food out to the men. They changed locations to evae the Indians. She would whistle like a bird and they would come to her for food. Sometimes they would kill a deer and dry it and send it home by her.

Reinhard and his wife had 10 children. Thekla Reeh 13, January 1865-1950; Adolph Joseph Reeh 1 January 1867-13 August 1930; Alam Elizabeth 19 November 1871-14, March 1942; Gisbert William Reeh 2 February 1874-28 May 1962; Kuno Reeh 18 September 1876-31 March 1949; Berthold Reeh 17 June 1879-22 January 1968; Edwin Otto Reeh 15 December 1881-4 January 1965; Adfred Joseph Reeh 1 January 1885-1 September 1975; Arthur C. Reeh 5 January 1889-13 June 1974; Reinholdena Reeh 25 November 1890-2 April 1969.

Christian (Johann Joseph) Reeh born July 1838 and died 10 August 1902 in Sisterdale, Tx and buried in Sisterdale. He married 10 December 1865 to Caroline Itz Arhelger born 14 April 1834 and died 15 May 1910 in Boerne, TX.and buried in Boerne. Her parents were Peter Itz and Mari Christine Pape. She was first married to Heinrich Arhelger who was killed by the Indians before their last child was born. He petitioned to become a citizen of Fredericksburg on 22 November 1859and was a Private in Co H, 1st Texas Calvary.

Caroline had 5 children by Heinrich Arhelger. Adolph Arhelger 18 October 1855-11 July 1911; Louise Arhelger 20 August 1857-;
Karl Arhelger 17 April 1859-5 May 1949; Albert Arhelger 11 August 1861-?; Henry Arhelger 11 June 1862

Christian and Caroline had 4 children. William Fredrick Reeh 15 November 1867; Blandine Reeh 12 April 1869-5 September 1851; Edward Reeh 27 August 1871-1947; Alfred Reeh 24 October 1874-12 April 1926

Should be buried in what is called the Lowere Crabapple Creek/Byrd Cemetary. It is located approx. 150 yds north of Crabapple Creek on the Llano/Gillespie Co. line on what is now called the Terrill Ranch. On Hohmann Ranch Rd, off of RR 965.

William Harrison Young, born 17 Jan 1841 in Texas. Died 30 Dec 1935 in Llano Co., Texas. Buried in Young's Chapel Cem., Gillespie Co., Texas. Searching for descendants of Harlan Rowen Hudson, Jr. who died 17 September 1989 in Gillespie Co., TX.

Harlan's parents were Harlan Rowen Hudson and Mildred Catherine [Ortiz] Hudson. Both are buried in Pecos, TX.

I'm interested in Mildred Catherine Ortiz's ancestors.

Mildred was the daughter of Tandy Y. and Clyde [Woods Obitz] Casey. In 1902, Mrs. Clyde Obitz and her little daughter, Mildred, came with Clyde's sister, Alice Leavell from Pecos to visit a sister, Mrs. W.V. Bigham in the Finis community of Jack County.

Alice Leavell was the wife of Reeves County Sheriff John Y. Leavell.
