Hi, just read your post. Mathilda Marie Doebbler Gruen was my great grandmother. Her daughter Minna married Fritz Barth. They children were Walter, Otto, Annie, Cora, Herbert, and Helmuth(my father) They settled on Block Creek in Kendall County. I still live on the original homestead on Old #9. I remember Winifred Cade, the daughter of Mathilda, when she would visit my grandmother. I have read her memoires as well. Please contact me. I would be interested in obtaining any information you might have regarding the Gruen Family.

Wahrmund-Priess House - The larger of the two houses on this property is original to the site and dates to the period of settlement by German immigrants in this part of Texas. Johann Christian Wahrmund brought his family to Texas in 1846 and by 1851 they were living on this tract of land along Bear Creek. The original portion of the stone house was built between 1852 and 1866. Prussian immigrant Johann Priess bought the house from the Wahrmunds in 1866, and his family enlarged it during the 1870s and 1880s. The house remained under Priess ownership until 1931.

Found a death certificate for Peter Wallendorf 1858/1949 buried in Gillespie Co. This certificate lists his parents as Andreas Wallendorf and Margaret Novian. I do not have Margaret Novian or this branch of the Wallendorf family in my files. I have Margaretha Novian b 1833 in Berod Germany. She was my great grandfather's sister. Have no spouse info on her. Am trying to find out if these two woman are the same person. My aunt's godparents were Wallendorfs. In those days godparents were usually family members. That has really peaked my interest in this branch of the Wallendorf family. Any help appreciated as I can not find anything on the internet.

Son of Gottfried Besier and Christine Diehl.

Heinrich immigrated to New York ca. 1883 and married Anna Hey in 1886. They had three children: Henry, Jr., Rose and Anna.

Do you have any further information on this family, or have you had any success in retreving vital record information in Germany?

Many thanks.

Cecil is my husbands father. I don't have much information, but would love to share what ever I can. I do have names of what I believe to be most the siblings and picture of Minnie Viola Nixon.

I forgot about using a Soundex search for Cora. After your helpful posting, I did find her death date, and was able to obtain a copy of her death certificate.

Cora Wahrmund was born 08 Feb 1881 in Texas to William Wahrmund and Elsie Hopf (Heff on the DC). William died in 1885 at the age of 40, and Cora and her mother don't appear on the 1900 census that I can find. It may be that the mother remarried.

Cora married Doctor Robert Taliaferro Bolyn around 1906. The family appears in Runnels County, Texas on the 1910 census, and in Norfolk County, Virginia in 1920. (Doctor Bolyn was from Virginia).

On April 29, 1925, Cora died as a result of a gunshot wound to the front of her head. Her death certificate doesn't say suicide, so no assumptions should be made. Cora was buried April 30, 1925 in the "New Lutheran Cemetery" in San Antonio, Texas, which is, I believe, St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.

Thanks for the lead...it was tremendously helpful.

I ran across a birth certificate for Varina Bolyn, born 08 Apr 1907 in Gillespie County. Her father was Doctor Robert T. Bolyn, and her mother was Cora A. Wahrmund.

Robert Bolyn was born 01 Feb 1873 in Virginia. He and Cora had at least three children: Varina, Corrine (1910-1972), and Emily Catherine (1917-1993).

The 1920 Federal Census shows the whole family in Norfolk County, Virginia. The 1930 Census shows only the three girls, living in one household in Bexar County with Varina shown as the head of household.

Robert Bolyn died 25 Mar 1958 in Dallas County. His obituary shows only the three girls surviving.

My question is, who was Cora? She is NOT the same as Cora Lina Wahrmund, daughter of Gustav and Bertha. Cora A. Wahrmund would have been born about 1882. I can't seem to connect her to any of the Wahrmunds in Texas at that time. Any leads/suggestions would be helpful.

I have begun trying to assemble a definitive family tree and history of the Wahrmund family, who came to Gillespie County in 1846. In my researches, I have uncovered an ALBERT WAHRMUND, born about 1878 in Texas, who is listed on the 1900 Federal Census as being in Cegayan de Misamis, Philippine Islands, Military and Naval Forces, as a musician. Any ideas out there about who this Albert belongs to, and what became of him? He isn't showing up on any other of my census records. Thanks.

Walter Earnest Kennymore, Sr., son of John Kennymore, was born 11 Oct 1889 in Texas and died 13 Sep 1978 in Gillespie County, Texas. According to the SSDI, his last known residence was in Pueblo County, Colorado. He is buried in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas. He was married to a woman named Meta, who appears with him and their son, Walter, Jr. (18 Nov 1922-19 Mar 1997) in the 1930 Federal Census in McCullouch County, Texas. In both the 1900 and 1920 censuses, he is in Ellis County, Texas. In the 1900 census, he is shown in the household of his father, but no mother is listed.

According to his World War I draft card, his occupation in 1917 was sign painter. He also shows himself as single at the time.

It appears that wife Meta P. Kennymore was born 31 March 1897 and died 17 Nov 1997. Her last known residence was Hanna in Carbon County, Wyoming.

I hope some of this helps. If you need an obituary, try contacting the Gillespie County volunteer at www.raogk.org (Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness).

Good luck!

I would be interested in your information. I am from the McDonald/Taylor families.
I found your post while looking for anything on the Spring Creek Cemetery. I suspect it may have another name. Thank you offering to share your work.
Glenda

Thanks for getting back to me and no I haven't checked with the court house in Gillespie Co. That is next on my list to do. The only info I have on Mark Kleeden is listed above. He was married to June Marie Jones, she is was a great Aunt to a friend that I am doing research for.
I have been all over the Internet looking for the name Kleeden and only found it a couple of times, and was hoping that there might be someone working on this name.
Again, thanks.
Bonita
Mineola, TX

Was Mark born in Gillespie County? Did you check Courhouse @ 630.997.6515 (County Clerks Office). Without any official documentaion it will be hard to follow. Good luck.
k

Hello
J, did he pass away in Gillespie County and did family or friends go through a local funeral home such as Beckmanns or Schaetters? There were only 2 here at that time. There are 2 cemetaries in town. The Catholic and Der Freidhof (sp). Was he buried in the County of Gillespie, or in City limits? Hope this helps. k
