Hello All. My name is Kenneth W. George Jr. My father was K.W.George Sr. His mother was Zula Bernice Everett sister of Gladys Wood. I have just started a family tree search for Everett family members for as far back as possible. My Grandmother, Zula Everett was married to Clarence W. George in Post. They had a daughter Billie Jo and son Kenneth then moved to Louisiana shortly therafter. Sometime around 1932, I think. Any help on the Everett tree or info on my Grandfather, Clarence Washington George would certainly be appreciated. Information on Mr. George is almost non existant as we have not been able to find out anything other than he was from Dodd City, Texas. Hopefully you might be able to help. Thanks.

In 1910 Edgar Carter, Sr is living with his mother Julia, brothers Jake, Manuel, sister Edna, and wife Georgia in Comanche County, Texas.

According the 1900 census of Hamilton County, Texas, Bruce J Carter and Julia are the parent of Edgar Carter.

It is interesting that Edgar Carter had twin daughters, Melba and Velma, since he himself had a twin sister, Edna.

This is Bud Caylor, I was scanning the message board for Post,Texas and I noted your message.
I don't check message boards very often, so that is way it took me a couple of years to read your note.
My wife (Brenda) and I still live in Flagstaff, Arizona.
We have two grown kids, One son (David) he lives in Knoxville
Tenn. With his wife(Jan) and two boys, One Daughter(Sydney)She livesiin Mohave Vally with her husband(Russel) and their three kids ,two boys and one girl.
Hoppy my brother also lives in Mohave Vally Arizona. We lost our sister(Gloria Jean) ywo years ago.

I live west of Post , David Sparlin lives on the farm about 8 miles west of Post in Garza county of his grandparents, Elmer and Dorthy Cowdrey, who were the parents of JoElla Cowdrey Sparlin(David's Mom) who is now deceased. I think Bud lives in Snyder but I'm not for sure.

Post Chief of Police Billy Tom GORDON, d. 10 Aug 1969

I am a volunteer researcher for the Texas Peace Officers Memorial. On 10 Aug 1969 Post Chief of Police Billy Tom GORDON died of a heart attack after assisting a deputy sheriff recapture an escaped prisoner. An obit in the Sheriff's Association of Texas publication reported GORDON was 48 years old and left a widow, one daughter, two sisters and one brother. Garza county records on-line report he was single and records indicate a son,Billy Dan GORDON, Date of Birth: 25 Nov 1946, Birth County: Haskell,
and a daughter, Janice Lynn GORDON, Date of Birth: 28 Jun 1951. His wife is listed as Emma Lee HARRELL. Information in regards to surviving family members would be appreciated. I will also post this query on Haskell county message board where GORDON was born.

Looking for information about my aunt Ruby Gerlene CARR (b:1897, TX). Ruby probably was born at or near Stephenville, Huckabay, or Thurber, Erath County, TX. Her parents were John Bennet CARR (b: 1871, AR) and Idella NORRIS (b: 1876,TX). Her parents lived in Thurber, TX in 1901. Later Ruby lived in Stephenville, TX with her mother and brother, Bill CARR, until about 1916. Ruby attended a Baptist church in Stephenville where she did a Graduating Musical Recital in 1915 with Lena WILLIAMS assisted by Katie PICKARD. She then married a RAY, maybe Dee Ray?? from Post, Garza Co, TX. She died at age 20 years about two weeks after child birth in 1917/18 and was buried at Terrace Cemetery, site 463, at Post, TX. I believe the baby died within a couple of years after birth.

Upper Red Mud School House

My name is Jo Lynne Stark and I am inquiring about the Upper Red Mud School House on Twomile Creek. I am looking for a photo of the building when school was being held there. I am putting together shadow boxes for family members who lived there, the Self family. The late "Dub" Self remembered actually attending school there and Murleen can remember the school as well. It has taken about three months to find the proper name for this school and the correct county that it belonged to. We had been searching under Kent County under the following: Catfish School, the Self Countyline School, and the Higgins School. We finally pulled a topographic map up that had the correct name of Upper Red Mud School on it. The Self family still owns land that is adjoining the land that the school house is on. The school is deteriorated now - a part of the roof has finally fallen in - so I was wanting to get copies of it when it was in its prime. If you could help me out on this, I would appreciate it. You can either email a copy to me or just let me know where I can find a copy to print off and I can do that as well.

Searching for descendants of William Zera Pierce and Beulah (Bird? or Foster) who were in Garza Co., TX 1920. Their children included:

Terrace Cemetery records show Mrs. Bulah Bird Pierce 1876-1929 and William Guy Pierce 1898-1918.

William and Beulah and family were in Jack Co., TX in 1900. In 1910 they were in Foard Co., TX. 1920 shows them in Garza Co. and Walter F was still in Garza Co. for 1930 census.

William Z Pierce supposedly died in Howard Co., TX in 1941 but can find no census records for him after 1920.

Any help with this family would be greatly appreciated.
