Esther Jane DUNWOODY BIRDWELL

I'm looking for some information on my great-grandaunt, Esther Jane DUNWOODY. She was born in Tennessee, lived in Palo Pinto Co, Texas (place where she married, I think), married Samuel Henry BIRDWELL, and had 7 children: Benjamin, Sarah Louisa, Will, Cynthia Elizabeth, Hattie Mae, Martha Vernon, and Henry Seldon. Jane's sister, Martha Ann DUNWOODY married the brother of Samuel Henry, Benjamin Franklin BIRDWELL, and they had 4 children: John Emmett, Samuel Henry, Louisa Jane and Elizabeth Mae.

After the deaths of Martha Ann and Benjamin Franklin BIRDWELL, Jane and Samuel took in Martha and Benjamin's children who had been scattered among other family members. The after the death of her husband, Jane BIRDWELL moved to Seminole, Gaines Co, with her and her sister's children to run a ranch. She died in Seminole in 1920.

I'm trying to determine when she moved to Gaines County, and any other info about her time there. I think my great grandfather, David Seldon DUNWOODY (1864-1941), a much younger brother of Esther Jane and Martha Ann, may have lived with one or each of his sisters when he was young. He is not with his parents in Fort Worth, Tarrant Co, in the 1870 census. He would have been about 6 years old. I'm trying to find him with perhaps another family member for that census.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,
Mary Ann Dunwoody
California

I am looking for info on my family. My Grt Grandfather was Hugh Branch b 1895 in Alb d. 18 Aug 1965 Seagraves Tx. Hugh was said to be the Constable of Seagraves Tx at one time. Through other family members I found out that Hugh's father Jessie Branch left some land in Seminole Tx (section 326) to all 6 of his Children. Hugh went to live on the land his father gave him which is still yeilding oil. They say that the first oil well on Hugh's property was the first for the entire "Seminole Oil Pool" and is named "Branch#1".

I am not getting into Genealogy just to find out the names of my family members and dates of birth, deaths, ect. I want to know the real hx. If anyone has more info or knows how I can get please let me know. I am just getting started in tracing the Branch Family Hx.

LeaAnn Branch Ft. My grandmother said she always lived in Seagraves, Texas and that is where she lived in Jan. 1975 when their father died. I don't know her husband's name or any of her children. I'm sure she is probably buried in or near Seagraves. Any information would be appreciated.

Looking for Imogene COGBURN STROUD,last know residence was Seminole, Gaines County, Texas in 1955. Imogene was the widow of John Knox STROUD. John was considerable older than Imogene when he married her in Jack County, Texas in 1904. He died in 1914 leaving a young wife who disappeared into West Texas. Imogene was believed to have remarried and had a son. She was last reported living in Seminole, Texas in 1955. I believe she died shortly after this report. I have walked both cemeteries at Seminole looking for a marker...no luck. She raised my grandfather J. H. Stroud as his step mother. I believe there had been a good relationship between them but she is a missing link in my family history. Any information is welcome. Compiler jrs.
