I am looking for information on Richmond Gilpin father of
George Thomas Gilpin my Great Grandfather. They lived in Freestone County I think the Turlington Community. Gilpin homeplace is out Highway 84. Would like information on this family.

I am interested in information on the Gilpin/Barnes/Dunbar family in and around Freestone Co., Texas. I am related to Richard L. Stanton who married Eugenia Childs Dunbar, Julia Dunbar who married Tom Gilpin and Rebecca Barnes who married Leo Gilpin (Leo and Rebecca who were the parents of Tom Gilpin. Julia Dunbar was the daughter of George Dunbar and Francis Lane.

I have very little information on these families but will share. Do you have any photographs?

Aunt Becky's son, Thomas Gilpin, married her sister, Julia Dunbar The Stanton daughters and the seven Gilpin children were double cousins.

George attended school in Leon County and at Angus, Navarro County. He farmed as a boy, but got a job in a drug store in Corsicana, where he studied to be a doctor. He worked in Corsicana until about 1894, when he secured a job as pharmacist in Grand Salene, continuing his studies to become a doctor. In 1896 his mother became ill and he was forced to give up his hope of becoming a doctor and returned home to Angus to support his mother.

From Vera Fisher via Karen Hawthorn who states that she has not seenthe proof herself: Benjamin Gilpin was a son of Edward and Ann. Hewas baptized in King George Parish, Prince George Co., MD on 6 May1764.

Benjamin Gilpin (1762-1840) was a Revolutionary War Soldier applying for Pension on 21 March 1837 in Henry Co., ALabama.Age 75 years; soldier enlisted in Montgomery Co., MD. Soldier born in Fairfax Co., VA in late 1762 and was raised in Prince George Co., MD. After the war he moved to Rowan Co., NC for nearly 40 years, then moved to Putnam Co., GA and in 1830 moved to Henry Co., AL. Soldier died 24 Apr 1840.
