Looking for information on Steve & Julia Haren Bell. Lived in Crowell, Texas. The information I have is: He was a Senator, State or U.S.,I am not sure which. I have a picture of him taken in Washington, so I am assuming he was US Senator. I don't know what year. I also understand he owned a bank in Crowell and still has descendants living in Crowell. He married my grandmother Alice Haren Coffey's sister, Julia Haren. Probably was married in Ga. and ended up in Crowell after the 1900's. If anyone has any information please email me. If anyone can help me regarding the date of death on my aunt. Her name was Wanda Laverne Daniel. Birthdate is 9/14/40 and she died in 1942, but I don't have the exact date. Her parents were Cecil Euel Daniel & Myrtle Edna Daniel. I do know that she died from a fire. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Looking for info on John Dunn Wright married Mary Ann Carr abt. 1884 in Alabama. I just received his death certificate. According to the death cert. John was born in New Site, Alabama on Aug 6,1862. Died Sept 2. 1938 in Crowell, Foard Cty., Texas, burried in Crowell Cemetery. Fathers name John Dunn Wright Sr. born Alabama. Mother- Sarah Pittman, born Alabama.

I have searched census' and haven't been able to find him as a child or his parents. The earliest census I find for him is after marriage in 1900 in Alabama, then the family moves to Texas.

Any help would be great!!

Hi! I'm trying to trace my Raines line. I found my ggrandmother, Elsie Lorene Raines (b.1901) and her father, John Lewis Raines(b 1876? Tenn), on the 1920 census for Commissioner Precinct No.1 ??, Foard Co. Tx. John L Raines was listed as "son-in-law", widowed, living with a Richard M. Cook married to Rema Cook, with daughter Cannie T. Cook. I found John L. Raines married to an Arizona Cook on the 1900 census for Whichita Falls. I'm assuming Arizona Cook would be my ggrandmother??? My greatgrandmother was Winnie Faye HEATH. Her father's name was Jim. Her mother, Nevada HART, was his second wife. Winnie had many older siblings by his first. Winnie's obituary said she was born in McCaulley, Texas, but my mom remembers her talking about growing up in Crowell, Texas. But her family moved to where the work was, once even to Fort Smith, Arkansas for a little while. Are the names familiar? Does anyone know of any HEATHs in the cemeteries?

Does anyone have any information or way of establishing the exact year Samuel L. Strange & wife Samantha Gabriel Nixon-Strange family of Marshall County, Alabama moved to Texas ? They farmed in Foard County & in Wichita County. Samuel L. Strange's father was William Berry Strange a Minister in Marshall County & former Civil War Captain in the C.S.A.
This branch of the Strange family is decended from Amos Strange who left Virginia and moved to Spartanburg, S.C. when he married Frances Bailey. He was instrumental in establishing a church in Virginia and then in South Carolina.
He was an ex-Revolutionary Soldier.
Samantha Gabriel Nixon was the dau. of John B. Nixon & Hiram Childress-Nixon ( formerly of Ga. before moving to Marshall Co., Al.) Sam & Samantha Gay were both born in 1872. When they moved to Texas between 1900 & 1910 they already had four children. Naomi ( Omie), Othar, Mary Frances ( Elbe), and Otis Webb Strange.
Their 5th child a son Bert William Garland Strange was born 6-3-1906. Some say in Alabama and some say Texas. This is what I am trying to establish. Exactly where he was born. This branch of the Strange Tree lived in Tx. from approx. 1906-1934 before moving across the River to Jefferson County, Ok.
Anyone researching the Stranges of Alabama, S.C.. & Va.
I would surely like to hear from you...Also the Nixon's & Childress families of Al.

I'm looking for information on my relative Harve/Harvie Barnard. From World war I draft card I know he was born June 4 1893 in Foard county, possibly Crowell. Census records from 1910 show him living with a sister in Stonewall county and his brother-in-law and he never spoke of his parents to his children. I have not found him in 1900 census records. I was wondering if someone with access to courthouse records could look up his birth record. All I know his parents were born in Texas (according to 1910/1920/1930 census) and family lore is that he was part Indian. I believe he had older sisters Maggie and Minnie but I'm not sure where they were born in Texas.

The suitcase contained over a century of photos, documents, and mementos about the Foxes, the Hairs and the Pulliam families. "....who have links to Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle town of Olton......included is a 100 year old marriage license of Joe C. Fox and Alice Pulliam, who were married in Willbarger County Texas. I am helping a friend find information about his grandparents Thornton Luther Ward and Mary Annie Clark Ward of Foard County. My gg grandmother, Martha (Maudie, or somtimes Mary) Booth, was full blood Choctaw Indian. She died in Thalia, Foard County, Texas on Jan 30, 1936. Her death certificate states she was buried in Thalia, Texas. I've tried to view the Thalia Cemetery listing, but webtv will only allow me to view the first few names. Is there a "text only" version of the listing? Were there other cemeteries in Thalia in 1936 where she may have been buried? Any help/hints greatly appreciated.

Tom Lee 1951 Crowell

My grandfather reportedly died in March 1951 in Crowell,Foard ,Texas. His name was Thomas Boyd Lee (Tom Lee) born in Tennessee in 1869. He was married in 1899 to Dora Meeks in Lebannon Oklahoma - they had 5 children from 1902 -1916 in Carter County OK. then he left around 1920 . My mother told me she thought he died in 1947 outside Wichita Falls but recently I found information that it was Crowell in 1951. He was buried back in Ardmore ,Carter County. Seeking any information on Major/Mager Jack(son) Davis, who moved from the area of Calera, OK to Foard County, TX around 1910. He married 1st Mollie Burrow in Wichita Co., TX and after her death he married Johnnie Gallup, daughter of George Washington Gallup. The only child was Etta Louise Davis, born 1914. Mr. Davis died about 1920, but I have not been able to locate a death certificate. He is buried in the Crowell Cemetery. I have never seen a picture of my grandfather Davis. Is he included in any of the old pictures from Crowell or one of the area gins? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Query: According to my dad, his father, Benjamin Roscoe Blankenship, started the schools in Crowell back in the 1890s. Having moved there from Mississippi, he established a school and soon married one of his first hired teachers, Lyda (or Lydia) Compere. They had three children (although I'm not sure all in Crowell): Dillard, Benjamin Roscoe, Jr. (in Sept. 1897), and Martha.

Would you be able to confirm any of the above or refer me to someone who
could?

How did the town of Crowell get it's name???

My husband's Grandfather was Enoch Vincent Crowell that married Zue Surena Parks. They were in DeSota, Tx,around Dallas in the early 1900. They settled in Bandera & Uvalde Co's in Texas after a short stay in New Mexico. Does anyone know of a connection? I am especially interested in how Crowell got it's name.

Lillie Anne Kubicek, 75, died Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at her residence in Foard County after a brief illness.
Rosary was held Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in the Sullivan Funeral HJome chapel in Vernon. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 2, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Vernon with Rev. Oren Key officiating. Interment was in Eastview Cemetery under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Mrs. Kubicek was born July 3, 1924, in Vernon, a daughter of the late Edward and Mary Kaluza. She married Robert Kubicek on August 8, 1945, in Vernon.
A graduate of Vernon High School, she attended cosmetology school in Dallas. She was a homemaker and a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, KJT and the Women's Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Linda McVey of Euless and Janet Daniel of Fort Worth; one son,Edward Kubicek of Vernon; one sister, Mary Cole of Cedar Hill; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to the Holy Family Catholic Church Altar Society.
Pallbearers were Robby Kubicek, Ryan Kubicek, Regan Kubicek, Chris McVey, Tye Daniel, Royce Hammonds and Roger Hammonds.

This is kind of a personal request of Wayne Cobb, or anyone else with a Foard County cemetery book. According to an Aunt, Henry Robert Randolph was born and buried at Thalia. Would you please look and see if you can find him. His death date should be 11-6-1950. Would you also look for a Mary Elizabeth Randolph. Her death date should be 4-8-1870. Henry wasn't with the rest of the family in Comanche in 1880. If anyone has any info about the Randolphs at all, I would certainly like to hear from them. Thanks.

My great grandfather William Rogers Holder (Born bef 8/9/1869 in Parker co.) and his brother James Lorance Holder obtained land grants there.(blk 8/ Sec 24/ Abs 1196 and 1483)
William "Will" married Sallie Ann Burrow there on 6/4/1893. He was supposed to have died there around 1900 in either Thalia, Crowell or Rayland.

Can anyone please check the death records? It would end a ten year search.

Need info on Clay J. Taylor who was residing in Foard Co., Texas in 1930. Wife: Katy, Daughters: Jessie & Viola, Sons: Ralon ?, Percy, and another son unnamed in 1930 Census. Clay Taylor, I believe was raised by and aunt, Jessie Bailey Smith in Tyler, Texas. He was the son of Zacariah P. Taylor and Dora A. E. Bailey Taylor. He was born in Mississippi and after his parents died was sent to live with Marcus and Jessie Bailey Smith. Also a sister, possibly named Alma, was raised with him. His older brothers stayed in Mississippi with other relatives. Their names were William Azor Taylor and Ed Henry Taylor. Any information about either Clay or Alma would be appreciated.

I have been trying for over 9 years now to find my Grandmother's death certificate without success. I recently found out that they lived in Foard Co., Texas on the 1930 census and was hoping that prehaps that she might have died there instead of where she was orignially thought to have died (where no record exist of her death). I would be so greatful if anyone could help me in that county as I don't live in that part of Texas. Looking for a death record on Nellie M. (Honea) Boone d. 2 May 1938. Austin did not have anything on her and they told me I would have to check at the county level to find her death certificate. Any help with this would be greatly appreicated.

I have a receipt my greatgrandfather (L.E. Hudlow) got from a W.R. WOMACK FURNITURE AND UNDERTAKER in Crowell, Texas Foard County. It is dated Dec. 7, l9l8. The bill was for the coffin he bought for by greatgrandmother when she died in the influenza epidemic. Can anyone in that area tell me if these people are still in business? I have sent much information on my family and have sent for a death certificate for Mary Lou (lula) Stone Hudlow, my greatgrandmother. Her death certificate came back with a lot of " <dittos. I have lots of photos taken in Crowell and names of some people in the graduation class 1921.:

I'm trying to locate my Teague family. They were in Foard, Wise, Young, Brown, Jack Co.,Tx. My grandmother Minnie Belle Teague married my granddad William Z. Byrd in Decater, Wise Co.,Tx. on Dec.21,1892, I'm told she was born in Brown Co.,Tx. to a Jim W. or James W. Teague and on Minnies death certificate it says her moms name was Lydia, but the last name can't be read. On a census Minnie stated that her dad was born in N.C., on Minnies obit it says she had a sister named Pearl Earpp living in Bridgeport,Tx., I found a photo of Minnie and one of her other sisters Isadora Teague Holtzclaw. Isadora married John Martin Holtzclaw and both John and Isadora are buried in Alvord,Wise Co.,Tx. Minnie was born Nov.09,1874 and died Sept.10,1967,buried in Newcastle,Young Co.,Tx.
