This is my family and I have almost all the info you quoted, including some I believe I uploaded. Are you a descendant of any of them?
That 1880 census in Fayette Co has intrigued me for some time, but I have not found a divorce record, yet. I think it was probably in Fayette or Burnet. Burnet lost some records to a fire; I don't know when the fire happened, but I could not find a divorce there. A cousin said she'd also try. I looked in Fayettte, too. I started wondering if the divorce might be in a box of unfiled documents...like the guardianship was. I don't live in TX, so it will be awhile before I can look again.
The John C. Alford you first mention is evidently the Uncle Claib I've heard about...so that makes sense. A cousin was looking for info on him; I'll let her know...thank you.
Thank you for taking the time to respond!
