Please research the relationship between the "Big" and "Little" Prices? Name similarity and residence are very close. James Evan Price wed Mary Ann Duckworth, 23 Nov 1843 in Bond, IL. James Evan was the father of David Nichols and grandfather of Evan Winford. James Evan's brother John was the father of Evan Hugh, grandfather of John S, and great grand of Joe L. Evan Hugh Price was born in Bond, IL. I'm not related!

That's an early point of origin for your ancestors. What are the major industries in Childress and Cottle Counties? Trying to deduce the reason(s) James Thomas and his dad relocated to that area?

1910 Cooke-Precinct 5-0059-Images 20, 21, & 19 contains your ancestors. They were: William Colwell(63), Sarah E.(55), Samuel D.(21), Henry Q. actually Henry C.(16), "Lonie H."(11) and Pearl(8). Note family in household #176. The images are incorrectly sequenced 'cause Pearl and her nephews: Arthur(7) and Leonard(3) are found on image 19. Arthur and Leonard were the children of Johnny Richard Colwell. In a nutshell, your grandfather's aunts/uncles (paternal) were: Johnny Richard Colwell (22 Jun 1871 - 18 Feb 1936), Mary Adoline Smith (15 Dec 1879 - 20 May 1932), William Marshall Colwell (22 May 1881 - 20 Dec 1968), Ida Jane Skinner (7 Nov 1883 - 20 Feb 1936), Samuel David Colwell (8 Aug 1888 - 1953), Henry Clay Colwell (15 Jun 1891 - 26 Jul 1983), Lonnie Franklin Colwell (30 May 1898 - 16 Jan 1969), and Pearl (ca. 1902 -????). Most have findagrave memorials in Cooke County. Ida's memorial found Donley County. Lonnie and Johnny do not have memorials but their online death certificates found https://familysearch.org/

Yes, I'm aware. I have a library card issued by the state but I prefer ancestry.com. That's also available at Dover Public Library but computer usage limited to one hour intervals. My "cheap" laptop is inuse at least 10 hours daily, even while travelling. You do an excellent job!

All Delaware residents have remote access to Heritage Quest Databases via the Delaware Public Library web site. You must have a library card and log in. (But you can get a library card even if you don't live in Delaware for a "nominal fee".)

Source: http://www.eogen.com/HeritageQuestOnlineStatesAtoE

The census records are not the only database included in HQ, so you should get your free access log-in even if you don't need access to the census images.
Found your tree. You are missing Earl's sisters Geraldine (ca. 1903) and Madge (ca. 1907). When you restart, add census data to support research. Family found 1910 Cooke-Precinct 8-0065-Image 44: James "Colwell"(36), Britty(32), "Jerlinde"(7), "Jane" possibly Eugene(8), "Rutha"(5), Madge(4), and Buster possibly Earl(2). Next, 1920 Cooke-Precinct 8-District 48-Images 30 & 31: J T "Colwell"(46), Brittie(41), Eugene(18), Geraldine(17), Ruth(15), Madge(13), Earl(11), Lillian(6), Edwin(4 6/12), and Durward (2). Review the response from PaSain on 23 Jul 2011. That lady's "good"!

The Texas Library and Archives commission pays for all Texas residents to have free access to Heritage Quest (at home in your jammies on your own computer). No need to go to the library. Call or visit your nearest library and ask for the web address, log-in and password to access the TexShare Databases.

The Heritage Quest images only have a head of household index (except 1880 which is a full index) but you can search the databases at familysearch.org and if they don't have the image you can use their information and go to HQ to view the image for free.

Non-Texas residents also frequently have free access...read more about it here http://txfannin.org/census.php...down near the bottom of the page to see how you can determine if you have free access in your state.

Check with "major" libraries in your area. Most have ancestry.com or heritagequest available for public use. Unfortunately, time on their computers usually restricted to hourly intervals. Still, that equals progress especially when you have "free" help researching.(lol) It's urgent you get started 'cause many descendants are using surname "Colwell" instead of Caldwell. It's also worthy to note Charles Earl Caldwell married Lula Myrtle Williamson then Evelyn Arnn. His children via Lula were born prior to 1946.

Hello, Thanks for the information and yes this is the family i am 90% sure i am related to. I am still researching myself. Yes it is a long and slow process. I started researching my Caldwell side of my family about 10 years or so ago. During my research i found more information on my dads mother side then my dads fathers side. I won't give up, even if it takes a lifetime. Also My son is a senior this year. I was showing him this message, and he said " mom when i get out of college and get me a realy good job, I am going to pay someone to do my ancestery on the caldwell side too". I said that would be awesome. So yes i do beleive we are related. I hope we can keep in touch. Thank you. Terrie

When i have the time i will try to add more information in a message on here. I may have other posts on here. At one time someone did send me alot of information, but My grandfather Earl Caldwell is still a mystery to me. If i had the money i would be able to research better, but just don't make enough money. Maybe one day i will. Thank you again. Have a great week. Terrie

I'm not the person you are trying to contact or related! I do have "decent" research skills and willing to assist your search. James T. Caldwell's mom, Sarah E., shared his 1930 household in Childress County. Her death certificate online https://familysearch.org/ Lookup Sarah Ellen Caldwell (Oct 1859 - 30 May 1933). Parents identified as unknown "Fistol" and Jane Keith. John Pistole wed Jane "Kath", 19 Mar 1851 in DeKalb, TN. John may have died early 'cause Jane remarried Elijah Hathaway per 1860 TN-Wilson-District 13-Image 16. They're also found 1870 TN-DeKalb-District 14-Image 11. On 19 Jun 1872, Willie/Willis Martin Caldwell wed Sarah E. Pistole in DeKalb, TN. Now, you have info not found on any of the public family trees viewable on ancestry.com.

Yes, I am familiar with most all the graves, I was one of three that put the cemetery on-line back in 2004, I believe.
I am looking for pictures, obits., or anything you might want to post behind their names on the cemetery website:
www.txfannin.org
Click on cemeteries, then Ladonia then ititial of their last name, then their name and you will see what we have on your ancestors. If you are willing to add, we would LOVE to have it behind their name.
Additions can be sent to <a href="http://www.henderson.suzie@gmail.com" target="_blank">www.henderson.suzie@gmail.com who is the webmaster, or to me, and I will forward it.

Hope you like what we have so far.

I am related if your grandfather is the Charles Earl Caldwell who was a brother to James Durward Caldwell. I am James Durwards son Gary William Caldwell. Charles Earl did remarry Lula and had 3 children Clifford Earl, Glenda (unsure of her middle name), & Ronald Kendall. Charles Earl is deceased & buried in Gainesville, TX. Clifford was in California unsure if he is deceased or not. Ronald was in California but moved back to Texas, unsure if he is still living & unsure of where. Glenda disowned the Caldwell's from what I heard. Unsure on her where abouts & if she is still living. I am trying to research but it's slow going & hard to find correct information. There is also other spellings of this line of Caldwells last name - Colwell & Coldwell. If you get this let me know.

In the book "The History of Leonard, Texas 1880-1980", there is an article about the Isaac Henry McLarry family, written by a Mrs. William J. Stark. The article mentions Jenny Church (Mrs. John Isaac McLarry) receiving a letter from her sister Addie Church (who became Mrs. George W. Moreland) The article states "See letter dated November 10th 1878 from Shady Grove to 'My Dear Sister' signed 'Addie Church'." Unfortunately the letter was not included in the article. Does anyone know where or how I might obtain a copy of the letter, if it still exists? Jenny Church was my great great grandfather's sister. I also have a couple of unidentified pictures we believe might be part of the McLarry family. If you can help me, please e-mail me personally at LittleMup@sbcglobal.net and please put McLarry Family in subject line. I believe no bit of info is too small to consider. Thanks in advance for any help! Liz

The Youngblood family is a promanent family from the East Coast. There is a book, "Youngblood-Armstrong and Allied Families" by Frances Youngblood and Floelle Yoingblood Bonner. Check with your library, they should be able to get a copy through inter-library loan program.

A Buford Lynch married Estelle Blanche Armstrong. They had four children that I am aware of: Buford, Jr, Charles, Francis and Howard.

I do not have additional information about the family, but I do know that there were parts of the Youngblood, Armstrong and McDade families in Fannin Co.

Hello, Anne,

It's nice to meet you, as it appears we are distant cousins.
Katie's grandmother, Martha Jane Youngblood, was born in 1826 in Alabama. She married George Brown Sugg in 1852. They moved to Carroll County, Arkansas, where they were some of the first settlers.
One of their children was Amanda (Manda) Elizabeth Sugg, who married Tom Lynch, and was the mother of Katie and my grandfather, Luther Dawson "Doss" Lynch.
From the information I gathered, which included the testimony given by Amanda before the Choctaw Chickasaw Citizenship Court, Martha Jane Youngblood Sugg was of Cherokee descent, as was George Brown Sugg. However, according to Amanda's testimony, neither had ever proved up their lineage or been a member of the tribe in Oklahoma.
Amanda Elizabeth Sugg was married 4 times. First to George W. Cooper, then to Tom Lynch, next to Daniel Payton, and finally to Stephen A. "Dud" Foote.
Daniel Payton was a full-blooded Choctaw. Amanda's testimony was given in order for her to be added to the tribe's roll as an intermarried white, which did indeed happen after her testimony. However, she had no offspring by Daniel Payton, so there is no one to make a claim to the Choctaw tribe through her.
I am very interested in finding any more information you might have about Amanda, Tom Lynch, Martha Jane Youngblood, etc. Pictures especially mean a great deal to me, if you have them in digital form.
Please feel free to ask me any other questions and I will try my best to answer them.

Blessings on your searches!

No doubt they were sisters! If you think that's confusing, their brother's death certificate has surname "Johnson". James Johnson (21 Jan 1860 - 21 Aug 1922) was born in Walker, GA and died in Fannin, TX. "Matt Johnston" may have been part of the father's name 'cause 1860 GA-Walker-Chattanooga-Image 9 has M. "C". Johnston as head of household. Mary aka Mollie and James were part of the household. Speculating Mr. Johnston died in the Civil War? His "widow" remarried to William Thomas Mcgrew and they're found 1870 GA-Subdivision 128-Image 138. All three Johnston sibling were part of the household. More speculating, Mollie and James were in Texas at least by 1881 based on birth of Mollie's eldest surviving child on 1900 census. Josie enumerated with mother/stepfather in 1880 McMinn, TN. She's counted with his surname. McMinn, TN was also the marriage location of George Prather/Mary "Johnson", 18 Aug 1879. That's found https://familysearch.org/

Looking to see anyone knows about this. Are Josephine O Johnston Wilson and Mollie C Johnston Prather sisters? On Josephine death certificate is Matt Johnston as her father but on Mollie is Jim, but the same for mother Betty Scarbough. When did they come to Texas from Georgia? When did Mollie married?
