I am trying to help this 90 year old gentleman Carl O Nichols find his father.

His father Carl L(also known as Carl O Sr.) Nichols was listed on the 1900 Fannin County Census living with a J.J.Parks and his wife M.J.Parks and listed as Orphan, age 15, dob Jan 1885, pob Texas, father-Ky, mother-VA.

Orphaned Carl is next in California on the 1910 Fresno County Census. He marries in 1914 and has Carl O Jr and William. Orphaned Carl leaves the family about 1919 or so, he just up and leaves. The last time Carl O Jr saw his father was 1921 when he stopped by the home in Fresno California.

My question? We don\'t know how or why the orphaned Carl got to Fannin Co TX and why he was with J.J. Parks and wife. Would the county have any guardianship records? What happened to J.J.Parks? Where do we look for the orphaned Carl O Nichols Sr.
Carl O Nichols Jr would really like to know what happened to his father and his history.

According to the 1920 US Census, Fresno Co., CA., Carl O. Nichols, Sr. was with his family in 1920. The document is difficult to read. Listed in Precinct 29 are:

Ethel* B. " wife f/w 24 AR
Carl O. Jr. son m/w looks like 5 yr and some mos. CA
Wm. A. son 1yr 9 mos. CA
MOORE
William A. fa-in-law m/w 66 TN Ireland NY

#5 1887-1966 last res: Salt Lake Co., UT, issued in UT
