Looking for any information about Billy Gene McGee, born in Hockly county 1942, died in Ector county 1984 as did his wife Maureen McGee. He had a brother Clyd Wesley McGee, born in Ector county in 1945. Would like to know if that brother is still alive, if so his nephew would like to make contact with him.

Browsing the message boards...this reply is only 9 years after the original post!

Dr. Headlee's correct name is Dr. Emmett Headlee. His son is Emmett Jr. I should know, inasmuch as Dr. Headlee delivered me at the old Odessa Hospital in 1943. I recall him coming over to our house on one occasion when I had tonsillitis (that was when doctors actually still made house calls...or least he did). Imagine that today!!!

Hello Christie,

First, I am hoping that your account is still good and that you get this message...

Now, I am connected to one of your relatives and have been searching for so long for her family...She is "Rowdy" Watson. That is all that I have ever heard that her name was until today. I was talking with my aunt and she informed me that she thought her real first name was "Lucy". I did a search and found your post here.

Rowdy was married to my uncle Richard Lane "Son" Watson. I never knew him as he died when I was a baby in 1955. The family apparently lost touch with Rowdy and her daughter from a previous marriage, Scottie Thacker Senior. I have a few photos of Rowdy in the family photo collection. I would really like to have what you can share on her and her family and any descendants she might have still living. I can share likewise if you are interested.

Don Watson

THANK YOU!

It is possible that Robert Hellums is Laura's son. She had three children, Robert b 1913, Mary b 1914 and Grace b 1916.

However, if this Robert was born in 1885, died 1936, he would be Laura's husband! My research has found him listed as Fletcher, Fletcher R and F. R. Hellums (on death certificate); I have not found him listed as Robert. His mother was a Robertson.

Laura (maiden name unknown) [b 15 October 1883 Kansas, d 1955 Texas] was the wife of Fletcher Robertson Hellums (b 7/9 August 1885 Mississippi - d 17 February 1936 Lamar Co Texas); Fletcher's death certificate indicates removal/burial to Red Hill which may be a cemetery or a place--as there is a Red Hill listed in three different Texas counties, I am not sure where he is actually buried--so he could be in Odessa Cemetery. At Fletcher's death, Robert Hellums was the informant; and both had an address of Rt. 1, Powderly, TX which is in Lamar Co.

Again, thank you for your very quick reply; I very much appreciate your kindness and will keep hoping to find a descendant for correspondance.

Would like to have copy of obituary for Laura Hellums who died 13 August 1955 in Paris, Lamar Co Texas. Her death certificate indicated she was buried in Odessa Cemetery, Odessa, Ector Co Texas. If no obit is available, would appreciate the cemetery inscription and confirmation that she is buried in Odessa Cemetery.

Informant on Laura's death certificate was Mrs. Gracye Baucom; I believe this to be Laura's daughter: Grace Hellums, born ca 1916 most probably in Idabel, McCurtain Co Oklahoma. Would like to confirm this and correspond with any one in the Baucom family who is researching this line.

Will appreciate any information to help with answering this query.
Ovid D. McCarty was the brother of my great-grandfather, James Duncan McCarty. I have found Ovid D. McCarty on the 1870 Census in DeSoto County Mississippi Township 4 Range 8, living with his mother, Georgia McCarty, and his brothers James Duncan and Ernest Payton. I also found Ovid's Texas death record, which provided me with the long-sought middle name, which has been the source of much interest in our family. James Duncan McCarty, Ovid's brother, always told us that Ovid's middle name was pronounced "dew-mon-jay", and was his Louisiana-born, French paternal grandmother's maiden name. Finally, on Ovid's death certificate, his middle name is listed as "Domongie."

Please write and I will share with you the documents I have recently found and confirmed as Ovid.

I have the Moorer line all of the way to to Peter Moorer II who was born in Zurich, Switzerland in 1683. Any information on Martha Moorer and Sarah West would be greatly appreciated.
Aunt Dolly and Uncle Jesse "Hartley"??

Looking for info on "Aunt Dolly and Uncle Jesse." As a child I thought their name was Hartley, but I can't find any info on them so it must not be the right last name. The only info I can remember is that they raised or helped raise my step-dad Ben Hartley. In the early 1960's Aunt Dolly sent my Mom a recipe book (with a recipe of her's in it), from a church in Odessa. The book has since been lost. If any one has any info it would be ssoo great!! Thank you, Nona Rodden
