Ask your father if he's interested in pursuing membership in Sons of the American Revolution? Much of the legwork has already been accomplished and is documented in Massachusetts #30183. That application was submitted by Arlan Murray Spencer on 8 Jun 1917. He was the great grandson of Ebenezer Carpenter (22 Apr 1745 - 28 Aug 1833) and grandson of Ebenezer, Jr. (1771-1820). Ebenezer, Sr.'s son Obadiah (1782-1860) and wife Nancy Morse began your branch. Descending from Obadiah: George Washington Carpenter (19 Jan 1815 - 13 Apr 1897) through Frank Gilbert Carpenter (14 May 1855 - 2 Nov 1931) through Alba Wentworth Carpenter through Carroll Franklin Carpenter through your father. Enter Ebenezer Carpenter in the search template then click "Search". Click on the name opposite 1745 birthdate. I encourage you to develop a tree. There are several currently online but most are either missing data and/or display info with no supporting documentation. Typical is Hugh Washington Carpenter, brother of Alba Wentworth. Unlike Alba, Hugh remained in New Hampshire and expired 18 Jun 1957. Thrice married, Hugh evidently died with no descendants? He and wife #3, Jennie Mae Mills, had a stillborn daughter in 1930.
