THe Finley Kennedy in Mountainair is the one we are searching for, found out he is not buried thee, buried in Texas.

Eagle Pass is in Maverick county, Texas. At www.findagrave.com, there is Maverick County Cemetery at Eagle Pass. This cemetery is also called Eagle Pass Cemetery, and Eagle Pass City Cemetery. There is one Kennedy burial at this cemetery.

At www.findagrave.com, Finley Martin Kennedy, born Jul 1880, is listed as buried at Mountainair Cemetery, Mountainair, Torrance County NM.

Hi there:

I am looking for an obit for a Bertha Melton Kennedy who died in Bexar County 7-6-1964. Texas death records say she was buried 7-7-1964 in Eastland, Texas but can not find the burial place. It says Eastland Cemetery but they do not have a record either, so hoping an obit will show whether this is resting place or not.

If an obit is found would like to know if she was the widow of Finley Martin "Bud" Kennedy or not. Looking for him in Texas too but so such luck. He lived in Mountainair NM in 1940 but past that time not sure if he moved with Bertha to Texas or not.

Any kindness, assistance, would be greatly appreciated.

Bill, my son Christopher poe married for the third time, a girl by the name of Kimberly Lindsey. She said she wanted to know if we were related because she had a great grandmother named Cora Lee Poe. I didn't have her in my data base, but I told her I'd check It out. After a lot of searching I found we had a common ancester in James Thomas Poe, Major.30 Nov 1829-20 Jan 1923. So now I tell her she is sleeping with her 6th cousin twice removed.

Eastland: JAMES D. RIDLING, age 85, died Monday in Eastland Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient one week. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Arrington Funeral Chapel with Rev. CLAUDE HARRIS officiating. Burial will be in Acker Cemetery in Stephens County. Mr. Ridling was born Nov. 3, 1885 in Decatur. He lived in the Eastland the past eight years, moving from Stephens County. He was a retired farmer. He married RUTH BARKER April 9, 1919 in Wayland. Survivors are his wife of Eastland; one son, R. D. RIDLING of Eastland, one daughter Mrs. PEARL HALLMARK of Eastland; one sister, Mrs. FLORENCE BEARD of Mineral Wells, one brother, J. A. RIDLING of Ranger; four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Simmons was born Jan. 16, 1891 in Chattanooga, Tenn., and lived in Fort Worth 23 years. Survivors are two sisters, Mrs. ADA HANKINS of Lubbock and Mrs. DORCAS CHOATE of Fort Worth, and one niece.

My Great Grandmother is Alma C Wagnon-Dunn. She is not listed on Cencus with Lillan, daughter of Thomas and Mary Boone-Dunn, however Alma is listed on 1900 Cencus with Lillan, Jesse and Dewey. Don't know alot about Dewey, My Great Grandparents John "Jack" and Alma Wagnon Dunn moved to Oklahoma from Texas. I do know Lillan's mothers maiden name is Boone and was cousins to Daniel Boone!

You might consider this free website for 1800's Texas newspaper archives; it has some of the early ones including Fort Worth, Palo Pinto, etc.

Another consideration is the Graham paper in Young County--it has some issues beginning in the 1870's on microfilm. It is available at the Graham library.

No newspapers or microfilm at the Eastland County Court House. You need to go to the Eastland Memorial Library at 210 S. Lamar ST. they have some on microfilm, only open the afternoons 1-5
The Eastland County Museum is across the street northeast from the courthouse on the corner, I they may have some old newspapers but can't say for sure, the museum is only open Friday and Sat.

The question was actually about Verma's statement that the Eastland County Courthouse has newspapers, not where can newspapers in general be found. So, does the Eastland County Courthouse of Texas have newspapers on microfilm?

Also, where is the Eastland County museum?

Old newspapers were microfilmed and are stored in cabinets, usually near microfilm readers. Sometimes in very tiny libraries they are in a back area and a librarian has to retrieve the rolls for the years you request. The easiest way to find them in a large library is to ask a librarian...they know lots of local information, too.

The Eastland County Courthouse....It has huge selection. And the Eastland Co. Museum is awesome to go to, there are articles from all counties around. I was rushed going, but will get back there soon!

You are truly refreshing! As someone who logon daily and attempt to assist with brickwalls, you are inspirational. I'm aware of at least four families that are using incorrect surnames and refuse to accept documentation. Too, many people simply copy other trees and do not verify information. Makes a person want to say, ah-h-h-h-h!

I (Michael Scott Hoover) while researching the Eastland County Court Record, found the following Info:
(This info will cause many Hoover & Kin Trees to have to be revised)

I will include the copies of the actual court papers on my family tree…but here is the facts found:

On July 29th 1914 in the Case # 2444 in Book J page beginning page158 in Eastland County Texas Court Records,
John Henry Hoover asks the court to decide how the Estate of Augustus B Hoover is to be divided.

The court hears the following facts:

Augustus B Hoover was married twice. John Henry Hoover’s mother is this first wife (not said in court, but from John Henry Hoover’s death certificate we know she was Louisa (Pape) Hoover) and she (Louisa) died early in life. (Confirmed by census records, and died possibly from complications of the birth of John Henry) and that John Henry Hoover is alive and present at the Eastland County Court House on 29 Jul 1914

Augustus B Hoover married second Livisa Black and had the following Children of this marriage and were alive and present at the Eastland County Court House on 29 Jul 1914

Joe Hoover (Joseph Hoover)
Mollie (Hoover) Arnold - wife of JR Arnold
