Spur Party Photographs 1912-1920

I know that not many photos exist of social events of early Spur, but I hope that some of you might have old party or church event social gathering stored somewhere--or even posed pictures of young women and men from the years 1912-1920. I'm trying to create a book that captures the idea of life in early Spur and especially (at this point) the courtship and social entertainments of young people. Picnics, Kodaking trips, and revivals...anywhere young people gathered to meet and court. I've found references in The Texas Spur about members of the following clubs and their activities:

Batchelor Girls
Merry Wives
Bob Whites
Old Maid's (or Old Maid's Thimble)Club

If you have anything more on these groups--Photos or stories--please let me know!

Thanks,
Marcia

Hi Mary--

Good to hear from you.

Parties outside of Spur might work; it depends upon the occasion. I was trying to get pictures that would show "society" get togethers--especially those which were meant to introduce young men and women to each other. I'm also interested in ladies' fashions. What do you have?

Actually, I don't have anything like that. I have some photos of a young people's get-together at Dickens springs, about 1922 or so, they were older children and young teenagers in very casual attire.
I also have a studio portrait of my grandmother and her 3 very young children, taken late 1911. They were very stylishly dressed.
I will look to see what else I might have. I know I don't have anything from parties, though.
