I'm looking for information concerning Philip Gonzales, who was a resident of Yoakum, Tx in 1910 census records. He is listed as Mu? in the color section of the record. I believe he was Teamster in that area. Any information will be deeply appreciated. This indiviual is my Greatgrand father.

Hi, Regarding the above posting, I have a Felipe Gonzales in my Gonzales family tree. He would be my uncle. Sometimes the cesus takers took huge liberties when spelling names. Mu could stand for Mexican. My Philip was from Gonzales, Texas. He was born around 1895 or so.

Anything ring a bell?

Hello Michael,

I am also researching the Gonzales family in Dewitt County.
The Phillip Gonzales I am researching married 3 times (Siney Jackson, Malissa Turner (I descend from this line)and Mariah Giles. His mother was Anne Allen (formerly a slave then a free woman of color in Austin County, San Felipe. His father was Felipe Gonzales (Spainish or Mexican). Phillip could have been a Teamster since he owned a dairy hauling business. He had
7 children Ernest, Ollie, Matttie, Jessie, Hiram, Horace (my grandfather), and Phillip Jr.
Yes he is listed on the 1910 census as a Mu. I think we are researching the same line. :-)
