My ggg grandparents were:
George Culver Tennille/Tennell b.1772 Pa. married
Sarah Elizabeth Davis on 11-21-1819 Cooper Co.,Mo. She was the daughter of Warren Davis and Mary (Mollie) Kincheloe-both of Nelson Co.,Ky.
After marrying in Mo. George C. Tennille came to Texas with Steven F. Austin in about 1829.
They eventually settled in Dewitt Co.near Nopal.
I am searching for any info on their slaves. I have been told that there were many and they carried the name Tennille/Tennell.
Also interested in sharing my info on G.C.Tennille, Sr. b. 1772 Pa. He is linked to the Va. Tennille's of the early 1700.
His father was most probably John Tennell and his mother was Caty. In the past some thought his father was Benjamin of La. but it has been proven that he is not.
I welcome any correspndence on this family. We are in the process of putting together a book on the Tennille's.
