Flora Adcock-Dawson & Ben Dawson & Cliff Dawson

Flora was my paternal grandmother. Ben was my paternal grandfather. Cliff was my father, who passed away 5/19/2008. I think my dad was born in Waco, but grew up mostly in the Kerrville and Lamesa areas. My dad's aunt, Marie, at last known, was living in MacGregor. Does anyone know any of my relatives? My dad was one of 10 children of the marriage of Flora & Ben.

I have notes that indicate my relatives were buried in the Dawson County Cemetery in Lamesa, TX. However, I can find no listing for a cemetery by that name.

Do I have the wrong name. Is it perhaps the Lamesa Cemetery in Dawson County?

The names are Alfred Marion Arrington (1850-ca 1914) and Emily Jane Arrington (1847-1939)

the rishers buried here were from Commanche co Tx. they were the wife and son of Hezekiah McLemore Risher. He was on the Dawson Co 1910 census with a daughter Mary Alfra Risher Rhinehart and her husband and son. by 1920 they were back in Commanche Co Tx.I do not know who the Anderson infant was -
are there any Anderson researchers or decendents who might know? does anyone know what was located near that burial plot in 1907?? A homestead?? can anyone tell me if the cem property matches the dawson land & probate record below?

On 27 Sep 1992, a young man (my cousin) was electrocuted on a drilling rig. His name was Dennis Jack Simmons.
I am sure there probably was an article about the accident in the newspaper and also possibly a follow-up obituary. I would like to have any articles that could be found pertaining to this.

THARP abt. 1900, then went further east To Fort Worth/Dallas area, then to Van Zandt Co. in 1920. I found them on the 1920 and 1930 Census in Grand Saline, Van Zandt County, Texas. She was b. Abt. 1878 due to the 1920 census putting her age at 42. Her dad was from Louisiana and mom from Texas. Something happen in Dawson County to make them move east to Dallas area. They all originated from Texas, I think.
William C Dawson ws admitted to Cherokee citizenship in the year 1883.He is identified on the roll of 1894, but not identified on the roll of 1896.

I thought this was my Dawson, but not.

Born in Lamesa Texas, November 19, 1922. Went to a better place My 11 2004, after a long stay at Encino Hospital. She moved to Burbank, Ca when she was 7 years old. Was valedictorian of her Burbank High School class in 1943 at age 16. Crowned Miss Burbank in 1943 while helping with the war effort by working at Lockheed. She met the love of her life Jack Stiff a Patrolman with the LAPD in 1947 while working at her mothers restaurant. Jack served on the Force for the next 30 years and then worked the next 10 years for the department of corrections.
They moved to Tarzana in 1951 where as a homemaker and outstanding member of the community she raised her little brothers David and Bill, their only child Sandee and helped raise their grandson Chris, who lived with her for 10 years until he was married.
Served as the president of the local PTA, Eastern Star and was an avid fan of Baseball and Politics.
She was predeceased by her husband Jack; her brothers Bill and Guy Roy and her sisters Nita and Lucille. she is survived by her loving daughter Sandee. Her two adoring grandsons, Chris (Lori) and Logan (Tara). she was the greatest grandmother to Aislinn and Shalko Jack. Her brother David (Barbara) Brown and several neices and nephews and their children.
Visitation will be Sunday May 16 2004 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM Forest lawn Hollywood Hills 6300 Forest Lawm Drive.
Memorial Service will be Monday May17 2004 at 2:30pm in the Old North
church 6300 Forest Lawn Drive. Interment folloeing service. Flowers for the service or Donations in her memory may be made th the Braille Institute 741 North Vermont Ave. L.A. CA 90029

Did Lamesa High School have yearbooks back as early as 1928 to about 1931 or 1932? My aunt, Mae Watson, was there at that time and graduated about 1931. She married in Lamesa to a boy named Carl who had just graduated, and was maybe a year ahead of her. I would like to learn what his last name was so that I can get a copy of the marriage certificate. I am searching for the cemetery of Plainview. I believe it is in NE part of Dawson Co. My g-grandfather Nathan M. Moorhead died in Treadaway Tx. ( In Bordon Co. I think) and was buried in the Plainview Cemetery. My dad always told me they lived near O'Donnell ( County?). He also said he thought the cemetery was moved at some point. I have a cousin who lives in a nursing home in Henderson Co, Tx who tells me of a Trammell family he used to visit when he passed through Lamesa and he thinks he was related to his grandfather. I am researching my Smith family. I know that J. R Smith lived in or around Lamesa in 1912. I have a post card he wrote from there in 1912 to my great aunt Blanche Hooks in Colorado (City), TX. He talks about going to see Emma in Loraine for a "necessary" visit. I can find nothing in my great grandfather's journal that indicates any great urgency. Instead he talks about my aunt leaving for school.
This man's father was Alexander Joseph Smith and his mother was Elizabeth Williams. I believe they were both from Mississippi. Thanks for any help.
