His obituary mentions three grandchildren, but not by name. I have found the names of two of them who were sons of Earl's son, Joe Bailey Long, who also died in Spur County.

There was a daughter, Lillan, born about 1905 in Oklahoma, who is probably the mother of the third grandchild. Can anyone help me find this child.

Look Up Please - May 1879 Land records Lubbock, Lynn, &/or Crosby Counties

Looking for confirmation that Cunningham Huston owned 1280 acres of land in Crosby, Lynn and/or Lubbock counties. This would have been purchased c. May 1879. A newspaper article appearing in the McArthur Enquirer on 4 June 1879 said he had made a trip to Texas and purchased land in the "corners" of the above mentioned counties. Can anyone having access to land records confirm this for me? Can you tell me any details? I would be happy to trade look ups for the central Ohio area. Thanks! - Kitty

My father Billy Joe Jones was born in Ralls Texas in 1925 - he lived at 2001 Eighth Street in Ralls. His mother was Earle Stewart Jones, his father was Samuel (not sure how long he lived with the family). He had a brother Robert and a Sister Ethel Jean. He graduated from Ralls in 1942 and joined the Navy retiring 25 years later. He played football, basketball and baseball in high school. I would like to hear from anyone who remembers him or anyone in the family. I am his daughter and have never been to Texas and am looking for any history. I would love to find a yearbook. My father died in 1996.

He believes he was born 1914-15 Cliff was born in 1912-13. Any and all info would be appreciated. Dad say his whole family, as far as Aunts, Uncles, father and mother all lived in Lorenzo until about 1919. His Grandfather was Joseph Alexander Carruth 1857-1941(buried in Amarillo) and Grandmother Ella Ann (Grogan)Carruth 1869-1941(Buried in Lubbock)and some of their ten or eleven children, that were still living at home.

I am a direct descendent of Stephen F Crosby, in fact, I share his name. However, it was not until today, that I made the connection to the Texas Land commissioner. I did know that my descendents came from Alabama to Texas and I knew Stephen Crosby was listed as some kind of “Land Person” in Texas somewhere around turn of the 19th century.

If possible, I would like to gain more information about the Texas Land Commissioner that Crosby, Texas was named after. Please contact via email.
I am looking for information on the PHY family. As far as I know, they originated in Tennessee probably coming from North Carolina or Virginia. My ancestor, Aquilla Phy, migrated to AL and then to MO in 1840s. He died between 1855 and 1860 and one of his sons, Jospehus PHY, then a teenager, was said to have go to live with is brother Isaac PHY in Virginia, TX. I found that this town used to be around what is now Muleshoe. Does anyone know of a PHY family from around the 1860s. I saw that a Jane PHY b. 1842 and d. 1929 was buried in Crosby Co. Thanks, Daniela

My grandparents, William Berry Ketchum and Mattle Louise Hines Ketchum moved from Hall County to Lorenzo sometime between 1919 and 1925, at which time they moved from Lorenzo to Anton in Hockley County. About the time of this last move they got a divorce. Don't know if the divorce was in Lorenzo or in Anton. Mattie Louise later married Hosea Ballou Wright. William Berry never remarried and lived out his life in Anton. My mother stayed with her dad in Anton. I have the Ketchum genealogy back to ca.1765 but need Hines information. Mattie's father was Jeff Hines of Cleburne, Texas (born TN). Also searching for reason they divorced.

James F. Roberts, Crosby Co., TX prior to WWI

Does anybody have any information on Jim or James F. Roberts and family near Cap Rock? Have been told that he and possibly his brother, John C. Roberts had 'moved out west somewhere - close to Lubbock'.

Today an elder family member recounted that he worked for James Roberts in "Crobston" (Crosbyton?) prior to most of the family moving from Limestone Co.down to Brazoria Co. to build Dow Chemical in early 1940's. It is believed that Jim had married a sister of Sam Lewis of Limestone; that they had at least two sons who both died in accidents, and a daughter.

Ancestry lists a J. F. Roberts in the 1930 census for Crosbyton, but I don't have a census subscription. I would greatly appreciate it if somebody there in Crosby Co. could help me locate this runaway line of the families.

Thank You.

Hello. My name is Lori Hammonds and I live in Herrin, Illinois. I am looking for a Chris/Christopher Mabrey/Mabery. I have done as much searching on the internet that I can and I keep coming up with the fact that there is supposedly a Chris Mabery living in Crosby, Texas but I cannot locate a phone number for him. I would like any information that anyone could provide me, even if it is just so that I can rule the Crosby, Texas Mabery out. I have recently spoken to Bruce Verschueren who was very good friends with the Chris that I am looking for. They were both from West Frankfort, Illinois and went to West Frankfort High School together. Bruce lost contact with Chris and would also like to locate him. If anyone has ANY information, please let me know.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
